Thought it would be neat to see what YouTube channels people regularly watch or follow and maybe give a short reason why they like their content. I probably have an odd mix of channels I regularly watch new videos because I grew up in rural Iowa on a small farm so some of the farm/ag related channels intrigue me.

Iowa Everywhere - while I don't consistently keep up with all the content they have as it there is so much CW has done a great job with this.
CFTV - same reasons as above. Really enjoyed the "kickin' it" interview with Rhoads
Cole the Cornstar - when I first came across his channel thought he was a bit obnoxious but right now I am hooked on his series of videos renovating his great grandfather's farm house. He and 2 guys are doing a DIY renovation and its been very interesting to watch how they work through every new curveball they come across. He's also in Iowa.
Grant Hilbert and Spencer Hilbert - These 2 are ISU grads that originally were YouTube gamers playing Farming Simulator, now they are actually farming in real life. They have other things they are involved in that they make their money from but it's been interesting to see them learn how to farm without any real farming background.
Just a Few Acres Farm - another one that at first didn't find as interesting but the more I watch the more interested I got. It's a small farm in NY state that basically raises beef and chicken they sell but he also does tractor restorations and some other side project stuff that I find interesting
WhistlinDiesel - I just came across him this year. Guy is a bit crazy and obviously has some money to blow but it's entertaining to say the least. The first video I saw of his was 1 from 2 years ago titled "Catching the guy that stole 20 things from me." That one is a great watch, he basically got a guy on camera stealing his stuff and showed up at his place with the sheriff.
What Would You Do - some of the scenarios they come up with are great. Nothing beats hidden camera shows to get true public reactions. Overall it is refreshing to see that there are still a lot of good people out there willing to step into an awkward situation and take action

I tend to just get into phases where I am searching for things like police body cams, online court proceedings, prank calls, and certain video games where I come across some other content in the process

Mark Rober. Makes about 1 video a month, but they are highly entertaining, combining engineering with entertainment. Favorites include the backyard squirrel games and the glitterbomb vs porch pirates

Mad Scientist BBQ is a good one too. Not only does he do how-to videos he will purchase smokers or products to try and give his reviews. The 1 thing that has been a big help for me is I have a charcoal/wood offset smoker and he has a video on how to season your smoker which includes spraying the entire outside with cooking oil and letting it bake in. Starting doing this at least once a year now and it not only makes the smoker look nice but really helps prevent rust too.

Larson Farms - Out of West Central MN would be another farm one worth watching if interested.

I personally cannot stand watching Cole the Cornstar - Nothing against him personally but it is just too quirky for me.

I like Stuff Made Here. He has similar type of videos but they are only every one to three months.

lol @ whistlin diesel. A perfect example of "quit making stupid people famous". No clicks from me....

I prefer a lot of others:

music:
frog leap studios - metal covers of all sorts of songs
Bill McClintock - legit audio and video mash ups of common songs, well done
lost in vegas - guys in LV reviewing rap and metal songs/videos

autos and bikes:
legitstreetcars - Chicago based former Mercedes mechanic working on a bunch of car projects
sweetprojectcars - DIY methods for cars and trucks
chris sullivan - detailed projects on here
lsxmatt - gm based projects and builds on personal rigs

Vice Grip Garage - car revival videos. Derek is also very funny. He will buy a car sight unseen that hasn’t run for 20 plus years and try to drive 500 or so miles home

Big Tractor Power - my son loves tractors and combines

MindPump - trying to get healthier and Sal provides good advice. It can go off the rails so I usually only watch the first 10-15 minutes.

Most of what I watch on Youtube isn't even from channels I subscribe to. Not to get too much into it, but I hate how everyone on youtube has to censor themselves now. Even Jomboy bleeps himself and blanks out his subtitles now. Anyway, here's a short list

TheRadBrad - Gaming. One of the few that doesn't need to feature himself in his videos or put a stupid reaction face in thumbnails. I cannot stand those.

Happiness By The Mile - A female truck driver featuring her journeys across the country.

Home Renovision - A general contractor featuring how to do a wide variety of home renovation projects.

Charlie Berens - Obvious

Jomboy - Breakdowns of MLB ejections, arguments, strange plays, etc.

Code Blue Cam - Police body cam footage of arrests, pursuits, etc., most of which takes place in Wisconsin.

JoJoSnow - A Kansas city girl turned farmer.

The Critical Drinker - Scottish alcoholic that reviews, breaks down, and criticizes movies and tv.

Seems like anyone who's anyone has been doing Tiny Desk Concerts and I've been going down that rabbit hole. The pared back thing isn't new but it really does seem to enhance what the artists can do.

They recommend what you watch, so either you have been watching those try on haul videos or you got a teenage boy that is

Dankpods - Aussie Audiophile. Funny

Vice Grip Garage - Lots of barn rescues, 'budget' restorations, classic cars, muscle cars. Pretty funny guy -

Mark Rober - Physics rocks

How Ridiculous - More crazy physics stuff/competitions but not sciencey

Man + River - Underwater treasure hunter

Mike The Scavenger - Curbside/dumpster diving.

Hoover Boys - Metal Detecting

74 Gear - 747 pilot hodgepodge of things surrounding the airline industry. Analyzing ATC transmissions, Viral videos, crazy stories, hollywood vs reality

8Bit Guy- computer nerd. Restorations, computer explanations, etc

Gas Station Encounters - Catching Thieves and doing a play by play of them in the store stealing. Funny.

The key is to have entertaining talent... I find every one of these people on these channels to be humorous or entertaining.

We Are Iowa | Local 5 - Don't know why they let that un-funny weatherman on there. ;)
