I don’t know that we need our frontline guys to be major offensive weapons, just physical and able to run the floor.
Up to this point, that has been true. But IMO if our program is going to take the next step, having a low post player who is a consistent offensive threat would add a dimension to our offensive sets. It may also pull attention away from Milan.

Agree. I think Dishon is an upgrade offensively over any big we had playing this year so I feel optimistic we are already better next season on the offensive end. One more guy with some solid offensive upside needs to be ready to come in and we will be so damn sexy next year it will hurt.

I have no inside information. But not sure I get all the concern about Rock. Yes, he is young and big guys usually develop slower than guards. But, he has been on the team all season. Lifting, eating and getting knocked around by 3 5th year guys. Jackson will start.
But I think Rock will be good in a significant back up roll. I am much more concerned by our lack of a Tre King replacement. Based upon reported portal interest / so is TJ.
Given Rock's skill set it's a possibility that he could play the 4. It would depend a lot on his ability to defend that position but it's in the realm of possibility.

He seemed to have trouble staying on his feet too. He was on the floor a lot (in situations where you don't want to be on the floor).

Sometimes I wondered if part of all of that was Omaha wasn't in very much. I understand why he wasn't in games. But it did suck that they didn't get him more extended minutes early (I remember CW saying after the Iowa game that Omaha would get some minutes in those buy games, and then he never played). I always thought he seemed kind of nervous out there.

All 3, Lipsey/Gilbert/C Jones need starter minutes next year. However, you need one of those guys (C Jones) coming off the bench to spell one of the other 2 at the 1st timeout. Also, need explosive scoring off the bench and not just a black hole with the 2nd unit.

Lipsey
Gilbert
Momcilovic
PF transfer (athletic)
Jackson

1st off bench:
C Jones
Watson
Rock

Then:
Indrusaitis
Fish ?
Hamilton?
Pierce ?

You only need 7 in March. You need 8-9 to win the conference title
Right

Do we really want to go into a year being an injury away from Rock or Omaha starting?

We’ll find out soon

This isn’t about bailing on long term of Rock, even Omaha. We have a rare opportunity to have unprecedented success next year.

Next year is our year, we need to go for broke, put together the best roster possible. If we can get a big guard, we need to take one. I agree Lipsey, Jones and Gilbert need starter minutes, but we also have to have enough of a guard court to not have too much drop off in case of injuries. I know we have Pierce and Nojis, but I would rather get an experienced big guard that can guard multiple positions.

I doubt we have half those guys on the roster next year.

The inconsistent scoring in the frontcourt (I'm including Milan in that group) was without question the biggest issue this year. Put a guy in that group who is a bucket-getter every game without a defensive drop-off and that's a beat-anyone team. When playing at its best (when the frontcourt group was scoring and defending), I think this was already a beat-anyone team.

We need a guy who you just give the ball to when you're struggling and they get a good shot or free throws. Milan I think is supposed to be that role but he wasn't able to do it consistently this year.

What about this guy as a potential transfer target: https://insidetheloudhouse.com/post...tar-transfer-a-minnesota-big-man-01ht5za4zt42. Pharrel Payne.

Nobody's really talked about him yet (that I've seen), but according to that article ISU has interest in him as do a ton of other Power 5 programs. My friends who watched Minnesota basketball say he's got a ton of bounce, a lot of upside and is young. They also said he was coming on stronger as the year went on. He does look like he might duplicate Jackson a bit, so maybe we're not looking (and Rock is obviously a big body), but his highlights are nice. Lot of great blocks in there. The Minnesota paper I read called him the transfer that "stings the most." Anybody watch any Minny games this year and have a read on him?

10 plus points a game, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game in 23 minutes a game seems impressive.

Here's his transfer highlights:

Do people on here really think Omaha is going to contribute much next season? From watching him this season, to me, it looks like he has a much much longer way to go than I initially thought. If I had to guess, I’d say Omaha doesn’t see the floor a lot next season if he stays.
It's more no one wants to see Omaha leave and flourish too much.. That could be a poor reflection of our staffs ability to develop and showcase high level talent and negativity affect recruiting.
