Never discount TJs magic.
Making up numbers. Let's say this guy is getting offered $250k by bubble teams.
Would you take half that if it means you get 2 years with coach Green on a legitimate FF contender? That type of exposure adds value. Let alone improves his future as a pro. Prime example BRE.
Depends on the bubble team and who their coach was.

Definitely depends on the kid - but assuming everyone comes back next year, you couldn't draw up a better situation for a skilled big man to make an impression on scouts.

He's from St Louis, but only considered BigTen schools in his HS recruiting. We didn't offer him (Iowa did).

I'm assuming he's too high profile for us to pull in, but that is the exact type of player we need.
I don’t believe that ISU is necessarily out on some of the transfer bigs of this level. If the player wants to be a part of a winning program in the top conference, have a big role and improve themselves by buying into the TJ system and culture, we can get them here. If they are out for a big instant payout, then they aren’t a fit. It all comes down to priorities for the player and their ability to look towards the future benefits of self improvement and not instant gratification.

If it involves making a huge payout to a moderate to high level type big I prefer they go after a guy that has multiple years and would rather join a team for it's culture and development.

Agree with points above about fit and culture to an extent. But someone having those characteristics and - at the same time - knowing how much they can command in NIL money are not mutually exclusive. We’re got to find a balance of both if we want to sustain this success. If we are not willing to pay we’re not going to be competitive. That is just the way of the world right now.

Based on how many bigs posted in this thread it seems to be a buyers market so to speak. Very confident we'll find a really nice fit. My only question is do we double dip and grap a productive PF as well.

I think we need both. A 5 being the highest priority, of course.

Transfers that are willing to do what TJ would ask of them are not going to be only looking for the biggest payday. And those looking for the biggest paydays will likely not be willing to do what TJ asks.

Agreed - and it seems like TJ isn't recruiting very many HS bigs (except Rock) - I think he'd rather bring in transfers that have had a few years of physical development
