People have latched on to NFL is Rigged/Scripted/whatever. Who knows.

This right here is how things become rigged. The deck gets stacked against the many to benefit the few. A theoretically merit based tournament gets rigged by a propaganda machine media partner to drive self fulfilling rankings rife with objective Eye Tests to line the pockets of the top dogs.

In no universe are Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Miss St, Kentucky, South Carolina, Indiana, Purdue, Maryland, Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas, Mizzou part of the “Elite” football brands that deserve $100M a year. They are at best overpaid cannon fodder.

I guess someone has to be the Washington Generals.
If you think the NFL is scripted you’re a moron who doesn’t deserve to weigh in on anything remotely important. That’s not directed at you more of anyone who falls into that catagory.

I agree 110%. It’s a coping mechanism from people who lack critical thinking and choose to project their own shortcomings into others.

Conference of two. First job of the new commissioner is “build staff”. That’s funny.
This is one of the saddest situations I have seen as major conference alignments go. The cookie crumbled and these two fell under the dishwasher and will now make their way. Few resources, no clues, no plan, no chance and it wasn't their fault. Thankfully Iowa State never had to contend with something like this.

We've been close twice. First would probably be when the PAC 12 tried to take the southern schools, and the second would be when Texas and OU left for the SEC.

No, it’s a random reporter throwing something out in a slow news cycle. You can tell because Pitt and OSU are in there.
It’s also ridiculous that schools like Rutgers and Vanderbilt get folded into this “super league” nonsense just because they had the good fortune to get grandfathered in to the B1G/SEC. Of course, the Georgias, Bamas, and Ohio States do still need punching bags, so …

Yeah I’ve always said no super league and the new playoff structure kinda just confirms that. Rutgers at least trys, vandy just doesn’t care about athletics at all.

You said it, I can see this happening simply because the SEC and B1G will keep their tomato cans…

I don't think the superleague will ever happen, but if it did, there's no way they'd have 24 teams to each conference. There'd be enough tomato cans at 20 to do the job without having to share any $$$ with 8 more bottom dwellers.

I don’t know what you mean when you say super league won’t happen, but there is definitely a chance the BigTen gets to 24. It’s already at 18 and ND will always have a seat with whatever partner they choose (maybe Stanford?). Then adding 4 ACC schools would be hardly surprising, which would result in 24.

I actually think there is a better than average chance they get back into a major conference in the next couple years. If the ACC gets raided as much as I think it will, they would be a logical choice once the ACC is looking for expansion candidates to get their numbers back up.

I don't think a superleague will happen because if it did, before long, we'd end up right where we are now with a top half and a bottom half and the top half would be whining about having to share $$$$ with the bottom half. Then if another split happened, we'd end up right where we are now, with a top half whining about having to share $$$$ with the bottom half. Then if another split happened, we'd be right where we are now, with a top half whining about having to share $$$$ with the bottom half.

They do seem to like their baseball.

Seems more that they're a school that doesn't need their sports to be a moneymaker.

is this gonna be a thing?

The amount of contractual red tape holding up a deal like this would circle the globe.

I don’t understand why everyone is so obsessed with expansion. That cycle has nearly ended. All that is happening now is some second tier reorganization. Contraction is what is coming next. Eventually OSU and Mich and the powers that be elsewhere decide to go independent like Notre Dame. They can search for their own TV deal with other independents. Imagine OSU and Alabama going to CBS and asking what they would pay for a home and home. They could still have loose affiliations with their old conferences, but would negotiate a split of the revenue from their games. This is what is coming. Not super leagues. The big schools are maxed out for what they can make when they are buoying the conference. No addition fixes that.
