For those saying “less than 10% to Iowa” and “Proctor burned bridges”, do you actually know these things, or just throwing **** against a wall?

I, personally, don’t think you know anything, but that’s just me.
Here was Proctor's quote as he flipped from EIU.

He had verbally committed to play at Iowa before ultimately changing his mind and signing with the Crimson Tide. "When I was going to Iowa, I felt like I was settling. I was comfortable for what I had known with all the people and the coaches there," Proctor said at the time of his decision.

The settling comment turned a lot of EIU fans against him.

Fans? Sure. The people who really matter…the coaching staff, AD and real donors? That kind of comment doesn’t mean anything to them. No “important” bridges were burned.

The staff went out of their way to be gracious about it and Barnes even mentioned the possibility of a transfer back when he got asked about it in his signing day press conference. He also defended Proctor a few times on Twitter during the season when people we mocking him for struggling early in the season. Given that Saban and Kirk are tight I'm guessing they had a good idea he'd retire sometime in the next couple of years and were planning for this exact thing, or they had heard from Nwankpa or something that he was feeling homesick. Either way yeah they absolutely did not burn that bridge.

With Doyle and Brian gone, is Iowa still a premier OL place to be? They’ve had 3 OL drafted since 2019, with only 1 since Doyle left (Linderbaum).

I’m well aware of our dismal track record getting OL into the league. Aside from NIL and hometown appeal, is Iowa really that attractive compared to other places?

I just don’t think Iowa is the OL factory they were in the early/mid 00’s.

The defense is better than ever and they still have guys putting up monster combine performances every year so I don't buy the Doyle thing. Probably some combo of bad luck with injuries and the last two OL coaches being a lot worse than Brian. Proctor doesn't need a lot of help though he's gonna be a pro wherever he goes

He was tighter with Nwankpa. He's like 90% going to Iowa, but probably an outside shot someone like OSU gives him something really stupid and his parents pressure him into taking the money again. Zero shot for ISU, we didn't get consideration the first time either

Is Nwankpa happy at Iowa? Seems like his career hasn't taken off like expected.

That's what it will take to get some ratl rules around transfers and put some limits on "free agency" in CFB. It could happen to ISU or Tech 100 times and there'd be nary a peep about it in the media. Happens to Bama once and you can bet something will be done...

I agree with this but I’m happy if something is done to protect us in the long run even if it protects the blue bloods

Have you seen the performance of the OL since Doyle left? They have progressively gotten worse. The reason the UI offense worked 5 years ago but hasn't since is because the OL has been atrocious.

UI has had 2 OL drafted in the last 5 years. Whether you "buy" it or not, its factual

Or 2 in the last 4 years that were both 1st rounders. Facts can be fungible.

Of course. No disagreements there, both should have been first rounders. The facts were related to the so called Doyle affect. Which by the way, the argument could be made that at least one of them was a product of Doyle as well

Sorry, they will turn a blind eye to that and welcome him with open arms if he gives them consideration.

You stand on your principals when the kids isn't a program changing talent. This, no way. They don't have that luxury.

Should have been 3 with Alaric Jackson but something I think happened off the field that stopped that from happening. If you look into why they haven't had lineman drafted in the past couple years though it is a story about bad recruiting by the prior OL coach, injuries, playing guys before they are ready and a horrible OC. I could see 3-4 guys on their line right now being late round draft picks. Correlation does not equal causation with Doyle and the OL. I mean there are other years as well they haven't had OL drafted.

Why are there Hawkeye trolls in here dirtying up this thread? There's an ISR board for that.
Thread title: Transfer Portal Tracker
Recent high profile transfer: Kayden Proctor; stud from central Iowa, graduate from a high school that has won 3 straight 5A titles and produced a number of D1 starters, including a RB everyone on this board should be very familiar with, who started every game for Alabama as a freshman is transferring
Scuttlebutt: Iowa is a real possibility for his future, and many posters feel compelled to act like they know something else

Hmmm…not sure why “Iowa” elements are here and part of the conversation :jimlad:

The thing no one talks about with Iowa is their OLs have sneaky not been good for years. They have really good individuals but as a whole they haven't been great.
