Why would the AAC be okay with 5+7? They have a chance to get a team in every year with 6+6. Otherwise they are competing with the Mtn PAC for the last of the 5, and they are never going to get an at large those years.
Probably views it as the compromise solution. The last thing the AAC or MWC want to see is Top 12. And the P4 won't agree to 6+6.

It's also possible the MWC and AAC could both end up with one of the top 5 highest ranked conference champions. Pittsburgh won the ACC and Utah won the Pac 12 in 2021 but both were ranked behind Cincinnati and barely ahead of BYU in the final CFP rankings.

I agree. The Big12 is going to be searching for programs to be consistent top 10-15 programs. Parity is nice, but if the best Big12 programs go 10-2 or 9-3, that opens the door for a couple 11-1 or 10-2 AAC or MWC schools.

All the schools should give money to Colorado to keep prime as the HC as long as possible. If the Big12 can harness that buzz there is some real potential for ratings. If he leaves things look a bit more grim.

About 10mil people stayed up to watch Colorado/CSU…
Coach Prime has made a lot of people a lot of money. I watched the end of that game after getting home from the races at Knoxville. It was a heck of a game. I've always like CSU. No way I'd stay up to watch Stanford Cal or USC Arizona.

Big XII champion will nearly always be top 15 and most years one or more other teams will be as well.

I'm a bit jaded. The networks spent a lot of effort building Deon up. They can just as easily spend that effort tearing him down.

But agree, they will ride the wave as long as they can. But at some point fan interest in CU will levelize/wane. Only so much PR gimmick that networks can leverage. I was talking to my sister last weekend and she is a casual college football fan. She was going to watch CU play because she saw story on Deon & 98 year old fan. Only so many stories like that exist, it eventually will come down to winning and being relevant in the Pac12/Big12 CCG races.

I am sure Deon will get offers as soon as this offseason. It will be interesting what is in his heart- college vs. NFL job. Blue-blood vs. CU type school. I would think he made good coin playing in the NFL- so not sure how much money he needs from coaching. Plus I am sure CU will pony up the cash to keep him.

From a college standpoint, only the Big10 or SEC will be able to compete salary wise. The Big12 or ACC would probably be similar comp.

Any kind of publicity is good publicity. I think his humble and complimentary response to the Oregon loss got him more points than his arrogance leading up to it.

I hope so. But we could see a period of parity where 7-2 or 6-3 teams are fighting for the Big12 CCG. Not sure there is a Big16 team that has the built in advantages to be a dominant program year over year.

IMO there will be Big12 and ACC Schools that match Big10/SEC schools from a salary standpoint to keep successful coaches. The bigger dynamic, will Big10 and SEC schools have an insurmountable advantage from an NIL standpoint to bring in the best players? Recruits and Portal.

Realignment may not be done. So Big12 and ACC schools will make every effort to create elite programs before the next Big10 and SEC TV deals are negotiated. Because there still might be 14 spots available in the Big10/SEC if the networks see value.

IMO the test case is ND. Does NBC pay $60M+ to keep them independent? Or does NBC push ND toward the Big10? Or does Disney try to keep ND in the ACC or convince them the SEC is an option?

That one team won't be dominant year after year is kind of the definition of parity. But I think the hill is big enough that the top team will receive national recognition. look at how many of the teams have been Top 10 sometime over the past 20 years. As of right now, the pollsters think Utah is the best of the bunch and they have a respectable rating.

Prime better keep winning games. Those 10 million viewer ratings might dwindle if Colorado finds itself at 4-6. He’s a walking ratings boost, but the substance behind the hype took a big hit with their last beat down from UO.

I think he’s a mercenary. If they keep winning, some larger SEC program will blink and hire him away. I’m sure he’d love to be at FSU but Norvell has them in a good spot

i mean 10 million people tuned in to watch them get their ass beat.

we'll see what usc pulls this week but Fox is already hyping that matchup, too.

i do agree with you in that he might not be in boulder very long if he does win. FSU winning is saving Norvell's job and keeping deion from going there.

Honestly he might not even have to keep winning, as long as he does decent and recruits like he has been he will get grabbed up very quickly.

Not a fan of the trash from CU and Prime's kid before the Oregon game, around the 1:20 mark of the video. Glad they got humbled.
