Breakfast Club was one of those movies that was funny when I first saw it, but didn't really comprehend how well it portrayed high school until I was much older. Kind of like anyone who has worked in a cube farm later relates to Office Space.

Jurassic Park

I saw it in theaters when I was 5 or 6.

Most terrifying thing I've ever seen in my life. I had nightmares for years.

Always think it’s fascinating that the coming of age movies you watch as a kid resonate so much more when you are at that age than watching one later/earlier in life.

When I watched them they had been out for awhile but “the natural” and “stand by me” were two of the few movies we owned so they always stood out.

Also was nice that the PG-13 rating wasn’t out yet otherwise probably wouldn’t have been allowed to see them

My kids watched this over the weekend. Now when I ask them to do something, I hear, "You're killin me, Smalls!"

Makes a dad proud.

My son (12) LOVES The Sandlot.

I saw this meme a few years back on one of my social media feeds and man it still hits me right in the feels for so many different reasons. We were just kids, we didn't know that some of us would struggle through life, fight addiction, or even spend time in prison. We were just a bunch of kids playing and having fun every day we could and just hoping summer would never end.

My son was similar. Watched at the neighbors (unbeknownst to us) when he was 3. Three! There were 2 slightly older boys that their gramma watched during the day and he would go over there sometimes.

He told us all about it, especially the water-ripples T-Rex attack scene. He didn't have great words then, but from his quiet "boom... boom... boom..." description, we were suddenly like JFC.

He had some scary dreams for a while. Had to get rid of the cheap jungle-themed play tent in his room.
