Corner 3: An interview with Robert Jones

His comment that he won more games in first non-con then he did in entire career at U of Denver struck me.
U of Denver went 7-19 and 2-24 in BRE two years there (9-43).

Rob's answer as to why he committed to Iowa State was intersting.

He basically said he wanted to win and TJ convinced him Iowa State was going to win.

That's a hell of a sales job coming off a 2-22 season, being stuck as the lonely northern outpost of the most competitive conference in college basketball, a new coaching staff with a head coach taking his first P6 head coaching job, a gutted roster, only one freshman commitment coming in, and the rest of the team going to be made up of transfers who have to believe in TJ selling the same dream to him.

I didn't think TJ was going to win his first few years here, and here we are 2/2 on the tournament.

Great interview. It will really open your eyes to the real Big Rob Energy. He is very smart, thoughtful, and articulate. And committed to winning and improving. They even talk about his free throws and a plan that was really surprising. And he loves the fans.

It was also fun to hear him bond with Jared about big man stuff and movies.

I too enjoy How to Train Your Dragon.

Nice interview. After listening, it's easy to see how Rob is great for team culture.

Interesting that he describes himself as "skinny!"

Nice interview with Robert! I enjoy listen to him. He's seemed intelligent and articulate also, and has direction and multiple ideas after basketball!

What was the musical genre that he was talking about, at 28'50"?
I get the DanceHall music genre. But before that I thought I heard him say the 'applebee' something or other. The Applebee song by Walker Hayes is pretty good, and his other songs are pretty good, but I don't think Big Rob was referring to him?

Great Interview, what a cool guy! He sounds like a dream player for a coach, love his buy-in!!
