I expected them to at least be as good as the Netflix shows but they weren’t.

Same here.

At least Daredevil had world class fight scenes. I liked a few of the action scenes in Hawkeye and that was probably the only series I didn't regret watching.

So not MCU-specific, but the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) could be going on strike as early as Monday (contract expires tomorrow). Here's a great article that points out WGAs demands:

Key Issues:

Mini Rooms

The WGA wants to mandate a minimum number of writers per TV show. Studios are increasingly using “mini rooms” — where just a handful of writers break a whole season in a matter of weeks. The guild worries that if left unchecked, studios could do away with the traditional writers’ room model, replacing it with a cheaper way of making scripted TV.

Streaming Residuals

The current WGA streaming residual is a fixed amount, regardless of whether a show is watched by 10 million people or 10. The WGA wants to add a “success factor,” where shows that generate more views receive a higher residual. But that would require opening up viewership data, which the streamers are unwilling to do.

Span Protection

Writers are typically paid by the episode. In the streaming era, TV seasons have fewer episodes but often take just as long to produce, so writers make less per week. The WGA previously worked out a deal where the episode rate buys no more than 2.4 weeks of work. That deal doesn’t apply to writers who make $400,000 or more. The WGA wants to remove the $400,000 cap, so writers above that level can make more.

When I read that I immediately think of Disney+ recent series. A writers strike could delay theatrical releases, but will likely have a larger impact on series in development.

Reviews are out for GOTG3 and looking fairly solid at this point
I’m not going to read it (trying not see anything), but I did watch GoTG 2 yesterday for the first time in a while. That movie is OK, but it’s not nearly as good as GoTG. Not close, really.

Kind of makes me worry about part 3.

Without any spoilers, people whose opinions I fully trust have seen it and said it's great.

Anyone planning on seeing GOTG3 on opening night tomorrow? I'll likely be going with my kids next Tuesday.
Seeing it Friday night. Looks like there are actually some showings tonight. I know Palms has one showing. Hopefully someone on here is seeing it tonight. I would love to know their thoughts.

Ok this is a first for us at a Marvel movie. We always go opening night like tonight for GOTG and it’s always sold out. It’s a ghost town. In a massive very nice theater we it’s isn’t close to half full. Weird.

I know many don't like my posts on here on Marvel movies so I'll just give thoughts from my better half who is a Marvel guru and a few people around us what I overheard. Better half asked me halfway through if we could leave. I said no we paid and we're staying. Guy behind us said twice 'this is so ******* painful to watch'. There were definitely people that had a blast and that's what GotG does for many is humor so definitely a mixed bag.

I will say this. As with all the GotG films, the soundtrack slaps. Any movie that can throw in Spacehog, The The, Heart, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, and The Boss...stellar.

This is the Day by The The is one of the best songs of the 80s hands down.

Can I ask, as a Marvel Guru that your better half is, what are their favorite MCU movies?

Only reason I ask is I consider myself a Marvel guru and this movie feels like the first movie since Spider-Man and Endgame that felt like Marvel. I loved it aside from a few things, so the fact you’re better half wanted to leave in the middle is kind of striking to hear.

And again everyone’s flavor is different so that’s why I asked their favorites to gauge style. This one will be like most MCU films though where it’s not for everyone because that’s most films in general but I feel overall this is very good and loved the arcs of the characters we have come to love.

Gonna revisit this take in a few days, but saw it last night and thought it was easily the best marvel movie since endgame. Fantastic close to the trilogy with good emotional payoffs and well times humor. The soundtrack was fire.

Had a solid space opera feel as well, a lot of good Star Trek vibes
