Big Rob Energy Returning In 2023-24

Rework his role on the team massively then sure, aint no problems on my end.

Hopefully there's enough size and athleticism between Milan, Omaha, and Tre (or improvement from Ward with a full offseason working with Kyle Green) or a transfer post, then Rob's role is something like...

-- team leader/culture guy/great in the locker room/blah blah you know the clichés
-- five hard fouls off the bench/"break glass in case of emergency" big man
-- needed for matchups against an opponent with a true center to bang with him in the paint

If he's doing roughly that 10~ minutes per night, then it is fine. Might even be a great role player!

If he's starting and playing 20+ minutes per night, we might have some problems.

Thats what he should be, I agree.

17 MPG this season was way, way, way too much

Buddy told me he talked to Gradey's brother down in KC. Said their mom hates ISU, yes she played at ISU oddly enough, and he cracked a joke about Gradey going there and he said she wouldn't let that happen even if he wanted to. I asked him why she thought that? Said fan base is awful and aholes to opposing team.

So there's the reputation.
Classy!

So instead she sends her kid to Kansas. How ironic.

Did they really spell his first name with an "e" included? That is very rock chalk-y.

I’m not sure that I believe this. I knew Carmen back in school. She is a very smart person, always a competitor and a bit of a perfectionist. In that first game with Kansas back in February, there was one time that the camera turned to her after a turnover that resulted from poor execution. She was visibly unhappy with the play and execution and was explaining to her husband in a very animated fashion that it was a dumb play that wasn’t even executed correctly.

I believe that it’s very likely and more in character for the Carmen that I knew, that after careful consideration, she and her husband wanted him to go to Kansas for the greater national exposure with a future in the NBA in mind. Carmen is the type of person that would definitely want the very best for her son without any consideration of her past.

I look forward to seeing his improvement with another year of Kyle Green's coaching.

I agree. I see others laughing at posts that suggest that he will improve but his footwork in the post got much better over the past year - he just couldn't finish. I think if we look at coach Green's track record on coaching up post players going back to his UNI days it isn't hard to imagine Rob coming back showing much more improvement -especislly considering Rob's work ethic. UNI was notorious for having players that no one ever heard of that developed post moves that gave teams with more talented players- often times ISU - fits. Rob could be that player for us.

I'll sleep comfortably knowing that KU fans don't like my fan base.

I hope he can make as much progress in the off season as he did last off season. I am still frustrated with how Rob almost never threw the ball back out of the post once he had it. Maybe with the influx of a few shooters he will be more willing to kick it back out or maybe he will get better at finishing. He had some games where he was half decent under the basket. Most of the time it was a real adventure.

Glad to hear he's coming back but he seriously needs to work on free throws. I don't know how you get to this level and you are that incompetent.
