That's my point. I'd estimate WA is #6 in the B10s list and OR is probably #7 or #8. I don't think they work in the SEC.
I remember a few years after Pac was gunning for Texas and others, Jamie said he and the other left out B12 ADs had option B (or C, or whatever) in place. Which was joining the Big EAST. It wasn't a great option but one that would of allowed the Dept to continue to be somewhat competitive.
I find it a little weird that the UU AD is this vocal against joining the Big12, don't want to burn any bridges even if its not your preferred option.

Maybe the Utah AD is just trying to posture for the fence-sitters at UA and elsewhere. Basically throw cold water on it to keep them on the fence as long as possible. Like several have said, he has to be "firmly entrenched" as long as possible.
Utah AD is now the entire administration at the U of Arizona.
I am not in favor of anything like Gonzago or Creighton, UNLESS you are banding together with the entire BigEast and making essentially your own league of 30ish teams. Which, maybe, is a BY long term goal? A college G-League?
I know it’s bigger than “travel costs”, but OR/WA are technically on opposite sides of the country from USCLA. The B1G can get creative with scheduling teams to play Olympic sports in LA vs both schools on the same trip. It’s another plane and stay out west if they add OU/WA.
And the LA schools are still heading up the entire West Coast to play them even if they are “travel partners”.

It doesnt really refute anything in particular. Is he dismissing the way it is going? Is he refuting the idea that a Pac school is getting ready to move, or that the Big 12 is pouncing? Is he refuting that Utah is part of it? Does that mean they are being left out? Is he just voicing his displeasure with the plan to move to the B12, because he knows its coming and cant stop it.
Seems the Pac homers all jumped on to mean that is confirmation that everyone is staying in the PAC...But I think they may be reading more into his tweet than is there.
The other question is why is an AD responding like this....instead of actually giving a quote or interview.
Shows that they're scared Arizona is going to jump ship. It'll only take two - or one. Put that together with the piece that the PAC was considering Colorado State, the worries are definitely centered around Colorado and Arizona. The others will be forced to respond after that.

it means nothing. its a generic act of defiance to rile up support.

Great, but besides Cyclones living in the South Cali area, very few will ever actually go there for a regular game.
Many of the Cali schools struggle to have any following and SDSU is one of the worst. They have terrible viewership even though they have had a good run of winning. They just built a new stadium with a whopping 35K capacity, which they struggle to get 25K in attendance.
People say there is more potential there. But is there? People in Cali dont care about CFB especially SDSU. They all have better things to do, and I dont see that changing. Sure its a great place to go for a road trip, but no one is adding a school because they are a great road trip, or vaca spot. Its about value, value is based on Viewership and SDSU viewership is terrible all the way around.
Wazzu would be a far better add, and very few are hoping they are added, their viewership is high and they have much more of a brand than SDSU, maybe not as much future potential, but they are way ahead of SDSU in terms of current value, that we dont have to wait a Decade+ in hopes their Viewership and Value increases.
OSU has a better brand, has better viewership, better following, not much potential, but is closer to SDSU Value...but still ahead of SDSU overall, but well behind even Wazzu.
SDSUs only value is that its in the Pacific TZ, and maybe brings a slight opening to the Cali recruiting market, although I am not sure much. This may be the only reason to add them, as other 4 corner schools may want a footprint in Cali their traditional recruiting land. But only if we get 3 other Pac schools first, and need a 4th, and that still is not a geat choice.

True, but at the same time, the PAC isn't a drivable conference. OR/OR St, Cal/Stanford, USC/UCLA and AZ/ASU are really the only easily drivable combinations where the teams could bus it to the games. Everything else is 5+ hours away. Even schools that seem like they're close really aren't - Salt Lake City (Utah) to Phoenix (ASU), for example, is a 10hr drive!
