I wish everyone would stop beating up Robert Jones. Sometimes I feel like I am not watching the same game as half the people on here.
I understand he is in an offensive "slump". I also understand that some of those "bunnies" weren't really that easy. Let's not forget Gabe and Grill's offensive slumps that lasted games upon games. TJ had faith in them that they would come around, as it appears he also does for Jones. But, even when he is missing the "bunnies" I love his aggression. He is keeping the other team honest is covering our big men.
But I truly do not understand the ragging of his defense! Do you not see the multiple responsibilities he takes on. Top of the key, underneath the bucket, weak side and baseline! He is hustling to cover EVERY possession. He is blocking out EVERY possession. He is getting down the court EVERY possession. When a team plays this level of aggressive defense, getting beat is the risk. And every player on the court gets beat every game, but not more often than we force the turnovers!
Let's be kind and appreciate every member of our team...... as TJ does.
Robert Jones still has big games to come! But what he is contributing in the mean time I appreciate!

Relax. If I say this level of play can be a little above Bob's ability that isn't "beating up".

He is doing the best he can with the time given.

I love his hustle. We would have a lot more loses without him.

Here’s where I’ve landed with Rob using the transitive property.

TJ would not play someone who is not doing what they are coached to do. TJ continues to play Rob. As such, Rob must be doing what he is being coached to do.

Kid gives effort and TJ appears happy with how he’s contributing and that should really be enough for us.

Rob is the personification of the effort, attitude, toughness and character that has made Iowa State one the biggest turnarounds in college basketball. Those who like to critique him on message boards don't get this and they only show their ignorance.

He sure is. And sometimes that isn't enough......and why he gets 15 minutes or less a game.

It's not a crime to be an average player who knows his role. And it's not ignorance to recognize that.

If Tre King can continue to rebound and be physical down low, I think he will inherit some of Big Rob’s minutes. I love Big Rob but King kind of fills the role Jones had.
I really like King but he is a PF not a center. With our aggressive pressure outside we need a shot changer near the rim. Osun, Jones, and Ward fill that spot.

I haven't read all the threads and try to to beat up on Bob, but honestly his OVER aggressiveness on defense is one of the things that bothers me most. He is constantly moving out to the 3 point line to cover someone who's already covered leaving the lane wide open for a backcut. Drives me almost as crazy as his inability to put the ball in the hoop.

Imagine taking the time to write this

He should but he won't. Why? If the coaching staff was paying attention that would have happened weeks ago. For Jones to play more minutes (when not contributing) than King in a game where King was dominating is ridiculous. Simply no excuse for BRE to have more minutes than King.

This isn't middle school where you hand out trophies for effort. I don't doubt the effort, but at the end of the day a bad player with effort is still a bad player. There is simply no on the court evidence to justify BRE's minutes or the undying faith TJ apparently has with him.

BTW this might be the dumbest thread in CFW history. Flame away Defenders.
