At least luck if you call it that it came back around the other way when Broncos jumped in front of Chiefs late and took Paxton Lynch who supposedly Chiefs were set to take. If I remember right Blackledge was last quarterback taken in first round before Mahomes. We were in a black hole QB wise after Dawson retired, a couple good years with a washed up Montana, Smith towards the end of it, but overall, just a sad group of quarterbacks.
The draft that still pisses me off was the 1985 one, we could and should have picked up a great QB that year, Elway went first, when it came for our turn to draft we could have Kelly, O'Brian, Marino, Boomer, and we take Blackledge, now don't get me wrong, the guy is a hell of a college football announcer, but as a player in the NFL, he left a lot to desire. He was a winner in college, that is all they cared about, never mind it was based on the Penn. St. running game.
What should have been.
Idk he seemed to play his worst in big moments. I wasn't a fan but yes he's better than the others listedGrbac wasn't that bad.
It was the 1983 draft not 85 when we screwed up. Out of the first 14 picks 5 where HOFers, 3 more were Pro Bowl players, Blackledge was the 2nd QB taken that year, with the 7th pick.At least luck if you call it that it came back around the other way when Broncos jumped in front of Chiefs late and took Paxton Lynch who supposedly Chiefs were set to take. Rich Gannon was a raider I don't acknowledge that traitor as a ChiefYa but he was better than most of them in the last 2 decades. Besides Mahomes Rich Gannon was probably the best.

I honestly don't remember him that much he couldn't of started more than like a combined seasons worth. I always remember him as a backupLol, but he was pretty good in KC.

I was young then but I remember vividly the loss to the Broncos. Had no idea that was same year a lot of his starts came. I mostly remember him for killing us in the following years. He was the backup. But Grbac got hurt and Gannon started 5-6 games and looked pretty good. Chiefs won the division with a 13-3 record, but they benched Gannon when Grbac was healthy and the Chiefs gagged a home playoff game to the Broncos 14-10. It was quite the controversy whether they could have won riding the hotter hand of Gannon.
Then Gannon gets his chance and bolts to the Raiders as a starter.
I'm starting to change my mind. Burrow looks unflappable right nowno question. Bengals all the way
Bengals seem to be particularly troublesome for the chiefsI'm starting to change my mind. Burrow looks unflappable right now
3-0 vs Mahomes. Nobody's got that. I'm torn honestly but I lean getting home game stillBengals seem to be particularly troublesome for the chiefs
They just tear apart the chiefs defense.Bengals seem to be particularly troublesome for the chiefs
Things were pretty good when Elvis was there but that was a different NFL. We were winning with Defense back then.Elvis Grbac, Damon Huard, Matt Cassel, man there were some rough times at QB for a stretch in there.
