NCAA releases first coaches’ ranking for 2023 Division I wrestling championships

The first coaches' rankings of the NCAA DI wrestling championships have been released for the 2022-23 season.

The coaches’ rankings are determined by a vote of 14 coaches in each weight class with two head coaches from each of the seven conferences. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. Wrestlers must have eight Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.

Really need Casey to be healthy.

Cabanban would be nice too, but I have a sneaking suspicion we’re 4th on 5th on the depth chart the rest of the way at 125. I have zero inside knowledge, but that’s the way it feels to someone like me.

Actually, he is 5-2 against D1 and has 7 duals left. So if he can get 1 more D1 match in this weekend then he would meet both criteria if he wrestles all meets. There is always the last chance open if he is 1-2 D1 matches short.

I’m not worried about whether he gets an allocation or not. He just needs mat time. If he can’t steal a spot at Big 12s than he’s not doing us any good anyway.
