In my ~40 yrs of following ISU hoops, I've never felt more relaxed/excited/content/confident about a current basketball coach than TJ. Game prep, recruiting strategy, in-game coaching, teamwork/culture, - TJ is the best we've ever had in terms of checking all the boxes.
And we're doing all of this without much overall talent on the roster (but on its way the future).
Its fun now, and its going to get even better. Sit back and enjoy it!

How many threads have been on this site making fun of ADs that give raises and extensions to coaches early in their contracts only to have that coach obtain mediocrity or worse? (Exhibits A &B = Fran and Frosty).

I'd be fine to defund the football program and give all that money to TJ and staff. Let's just be elite at what we are good at.
TJ said he wants to build Iowa State into the premier basketball destination in the upper Midwest. By all accounts, He's doing it. I think it's amazing what he has accomplished with the talent level he's had to work with, and against some of the best competition in the nation. Looks like he's where he wants to coach, and my worries about him leaving are minimal.
He, and his staff, definitely deserve a raise, but we don't need to give away the house, car, and kitchen sink to keep them. I truly believe he will build Iowa State into a 'New Blood' program, and I couldn't be more excited.

That would be stupid, the school has plenty of money to pay both of these staffs.
Agreed, I'm waiting for the thread someone starts to announce the six figure donation they made to "pay TJ"
TJ should absolutely be pushing the collective for a larger share of NIL money. Much better ROI. His floor seems to be a Sweet Sixteen type program. Extra NIL money could be the difference in getting the one really elite guy that pushes us over the Final Four/National Championship threshold.
My post was meant to be tongue in cheek, but I can't help but feel a little pessimistic after the football season we just experienced. Campbell's stock has really taken a hit, and I'm hoping our Lamborghini hasn't turned into a lemon.
Years of being an Iowa State fan have kind of made me insecure about the Iowa State football program. What can I say...LOL
TJ is where he wants to be. I’m not worried about it at all. Honestly if Jamie wants to do more it’s put more money into the assistant pool to make sure we can retain TJ’s staff.
I assume that team first/culture guys and "paid by NIL money" guys have a very small intersection in a venn diagram
Why? Lots of people can get paid what they're worth and still fully buy in to team success.
I thought this too initially but think this team thrives with no lead singer as Holmes said. If you had a lead singer who demanded shots, not sure Gabe, Grill, Holmes are as dynamic as they are.
Heck, this team has better better without Jaz. I think that's a coincidence but we have pared down our roster which seems to have streamlined things.
