AmazonSmile Donations for We Will Collective

You can give to whatever charity you want. There’s nothing wrong with posting this is an option, I bet several people see this thread and didn’t even know they could set an Amazon smile donation for no cost of their own. I learned about it last year when someone made the same thread about a different charity.

Some may learn today and donate to the WWC, or choose a different one. Nothing wrong with spreading awareness.

The charitable activities they used to do as good will they now get paid to do. Kinda changes the meaning of charitable activity.
Right. Just give them the money. No need to add addition “charitable” activity. Sarcasm!

Yep, mine goes to AHeinz. I'm sure many are unaware.
Emails are sent out once in a while to say how much was donated.

We have both avenues at We Will. Some prefer the charitable component and the tax deduction, because of that we were able to have a basketball camp with over 150 youth from Des Moines Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers and Big Sisters that would never have been able to afford to attend a basketball camp as an example of the good that can be done. Some would rather be a member at wewillclub.com and get exclusive merchandise and attend events. Both go to the players directly.

Thanks for the detail, Brent. I was being sarcastic, our collective is trying to be better than just pay for play and trying to increase our student athletes impact in the community. Of course the usual @$$hats find a negative in the attempt to try to make NIL more palatable and impactful. Best wishes to you Brent.

Appreciate you! It’s hard to know sometimes!

I get the purpose behind We Will Collective and I vaguely understand the current NIL era of college athletics, but this statement is ridiculous.

Honestly it’s not that ridiculous. We won’t be competitive without NIL. If people don’t want to donate, fine. But ******** about the team without donating is worthless.

So it’s a donation to an organization that pays players for volunteering in the community in order to keep them happy at Iowa State and not transfer to a place that will pay them more to volunteer in that community?

well kind of - those other places will just merely pay them for being there and not having to volunteer in the community.

It’s a donation to help us win. The system sucks. But it’s the system. We either play in the system or we might as well throw in the towel.

Was this one of Georges camps last summer?

Probably true and to think this whole thing started because of “like” characters on a video game.

I’m probably hanging onto the idea that college athletics were one of the last pure things in sports. It feels like the donations will never be enough for student athletes across the country. I thought donations to the athletic department and season tickets were enough as a fan but the sport has changed forever.

So what was the point of your post exactly then?
I’d rather have whatever Amazon takes from my small amount of business I do with them go towards sick kids and their families.

Ok, great. Why did you feel the need to share that in a thread intending to let others simply know about an option to donate to I Will?

Because it’s a message board. Should I run all my future posts past you first?
