In the last 3 games of the year Eli Sanders had the majority of our runs over 10 yards. I see he had 197 yards at 4.2 ypc this year (some of that in garbage time).

I can see where our RB's are 1) Jihrehl Brock and 2) Eli Sanders for the spring.

But do we get aggressive and upgrade in the portal?

Frankly I wouldn't mind that b/c Brock can get hurt, and I don't think either of our remaining guys have an awesome ability to make guys miss. Who knows maybe both can make a big leap
So you see us going into the year with a RB room of

Brock
Sanders
Norton
Sama

Rus had absolutely horrific PFF grades. I'm not saying they're gospel, but it lined up with what I saw him actually do. I would rather have gone 3 or 4 wide far more often (just an offensive philosophy thing for me) than have Rus in, but if we're insisting on playing a full back all the time (very few teams actually do this from what I can tell) then at least get one that does it well.
Correct. Rus was nowhere close to the athlete Sam Seonbuchner was. That dude moved quickly and popped people.

Not exactly sure.

I'm ok with Norton, Brock, and Sanders next year.

If there's an elite guy they can get via the portal I think they should pursue it though. We have 3 RBs in the NFL right now - would be a lot to sell.

I feel like Brock is a B12 RB at least, if not an all-conference one if he has a good OL and passing game. Norton probably the same. The issue is we have no idea if they can stay healthy. Sanders needs another off season in the weight room. And Norton probably does too. They bring in Hansen and I'm sure Sama will get a shot at RB, although they probably need him at CB. Neither are likely to be ready to go...they need to put on 10-15 lbs of muscle. My opinion is you bring in either a JUCO or a transfer as injury insurance for Brock and Norton. We thought that we had awesome RB depth going into this season and it went to crap really fast. Can't have that happen again especially with two guys who so far are injury prone.

Do you know something I don’t know? I figured Norton would be #1 or #2 next year.

He looked really tentative early in the year. Not sure why. Almost like he was trying to be patient when his game is to hit the hole like a lightning bolt. With our running blocking at times, the hole either wasn't ever there, or was, but didn't stay open for long enough to be patient.

Sanders has the size to block and didn’t seem to cough it up as much from what I remember. Silas’ size was an obstacle with our offense. I think I saw him break one tackle all the times I saw him run.

I think the issue with Silas was much less his size but his ability to run to where the play was blocked.

I think he needs to change his number, only because the 5 and 6 look too similar and I struggle for a second to differentiate between them. Like Kolar at 88 and who had 89? Too close on how they do the numbers. Yes, this is a me thing

That was his running problem. I mentioned size because he couldn’t block. He would try to block like it was a kickoff at times and sidestep and pop then but generally didn’t get anywhere.

Deuce Vaughn can pass block. Silas just doesn't play smart, and that's a fast ticket out of town on a team with Matt Campbell as your HC.
