UCONN matchup?

Tomorrow night's PKI championship game, at 9 pm CST will be broadcast on ESPN:

But, simultaneously, ESPN will also provide it on ESPN3 in "Above the Rim" format:

Hopefully they will correct the "Third Place Game" in the description. It is just a screw up - UNC vs 'Bama has the same label.
I bet they had it penciled-in, earlier in the day, to be the 3rd place game, and forgot to update it after the games were played. (Probably expected Bama-UNC title game)

UConn is top ten in the Kenpom ratings...

Texas and Baylor are also top ten. The next highest-ranked B12 team is Kansas at #20. ISU is ranked #42 which will hopefully improve after the NC game yesterday (and UConn tomorrow night). Iowa is ranked #17. I did not realize that they had improved so much after last year.

Living in CT this will easily be the best team we have played so far. Now I know what you are thinking, UNC was #1. UNC will likely end up the better team come March but something is a little off with the Tar Heels. UConn on the other hand has gelled early and play a style that is tough. At this exact moment I would take UConn to beat UNC, so this will be a great chance to grab another signature win.

Seriously remove Gonzaga out of the top ten. They’ve been in the top ten since I was in high school, beat up on a terrible wac conference, and never get it done in the tourney as a 1 seed. I’m just sick of their deal

UConn has been playing better than UNC. Be a tough game. But if you told me we’d leave with 2 wins before the tournament started I would of been elated.

House money go ball out. We already have 2 solids win on the year. Villanova will be a good win later on this year.

I'm pretty sure Iowa was a top 20 kenpom team most of last year. Kenpom seems to have a bias for uptempo offensive teams.

Officiating wasn't bad clones just fouled alot. I think it was part of the plan.
The way the fouling turned on and off was crazy. 8 fouls in the first 7 minutes, then zero in the last 13 of the first half

The second half was similar, they went foul crazy then mostly turned it off when the defense clamped down.

I couldn’t tell any difference in the defensive strategy and it didn’t seem like the refs called it different. They just … stopped fouling.

This.
And it’s why I don’t think they’ll ever make the move to a power conference. If they played in the B12, they would have 5-7 regular season losses per year. Goodbye annual 1 seed, goodbye easy path to Sweet 16. They’re an above average team, but not consistently excellent. Being the best looking guy in a room full of ugly dudes doesn’t necessarily make you an underwear model…

You are correct

Agreed. I also think when you’re playing a team that’s a little more athletic than you- and NC clearly was, there’s a tendency for players to be out of position a little more than normal and the silly fouls start happening. Had nothing to do with officiating.

However- we as Cyclone fans know that when we play against the big boys, we can never, ever leave it up to the refs in a tight game. We will lose that call more often than not. We need to beat them decisively on the floor- and that’s exactly what we did yesterday. Take it out of the officials’ hands.

I did not know that about Iowa, either. They are @ TCU tonight, and are actually favored - which is surprising for me.

TCU is still without Damion Baugh because of some ******** NCAA ruling related to “uncertified agents”.

He is a HUGE piece for them. I would not be surprised if Iowa wins going away.
