I remember when everyone got mad at me for accusing Ben Bruns of this directly after the KU game
It’s why I always went with getting to know the athletes to get a better perspective of the state of things. There are a lot more so you can get an honest story by corroboration and you aren’t spending the offseason hanging out and clouding your judgement/view/perspective.

Not throwing shade on anybody covering any fanbase, just saying why I personally took a different avenue.

Makes it hard to be critical if you’re buds though, I’d imagine.

What has happened to Easton Dean? Campbell said he’d end up as the best te in school history, yet we see Hanika for 20-30 yards every week.

Also heard good things about Gaines and Essex preseason and yet we’re left watching Shaw endlessly drop passes
I think most preseason hype sold to us needs to be taken with a grain of salt at this point. The stuff said about Dekkers preseason would get a big double-take (not that this is all on him; just an example of massive hype)

I think it's a crime we aren't giving Tyler Moore some TE snaps. I do like Hanika though and think he needs more usage.

To be fair, that wasn't just pre-season.

There were people crowning him better than Purdy after week 2-3.

Dean has had some moments this year so it baffles me why he is not involved more in the passing game. Why not run more sets with him Hanika and Rus like with did with Kolar Allen and Seohner? They may not be as good as that group but we really got the defense on their heels when we put those 3 in and moved them around in a motion set and had them guessing if we were going to run or throw to 1 of them.

You're probably right. And this kind of offenes can work, but you need to have good play from your O-line to do it (or a starting NFL RB to cover up your ****** line play). That's why a change is most needed at the O-line position.

Could be true. And if it is then he needs to get out of the way.
Just to be clear, and I'm not trying to be a ****, but my post is a fact and not an opinion. I worked for the team as a student, sat in on many an offensive meeting, and had a headset on with the offensive staff during games. Campbell has just as much input into game planning and play calling as Manning.

For the same reasons, it makes me chuckle when people ever suggest/praise Golesh. Dude is a HELL of a recruiter, but I feel pretty confident saying he likely has very little to do with the Tennessee offense and it's mainly Heupel running the show

Especially since Golesh has never been around a scheme like Tenn runs and Heupel has been around it his entire career.

The signs were clearly there during the Notre Dame game.
Total physical mismatch in that game. I thought Andrew’s would bring something as a S &C coach, but that hasn’t worked well so far.

Going to throw this out there but surely we will have a QB contest going into 2023 between Dekkers and Kohl right? I think Dekkers has room to grow but if we are coming off a losing season you have to open up that competition to give the crown jewel of your recruiting class a legit shot at winning the job.

I get that you can’t throw it 100% of the time but how many times do you run the shotgun draw with no success before you stop calling it? Apparently Manning and Campbell didn’t find that threshold this game. A third grader can predict 1/3 of Manning’s play calls.

Mike Leach disagrees. Players formations plays. Find out what your team can Excell at and run it.

But he also usually has the line and backs to make it work. We have a poor line and while we have decent backs, each are pretty one-dimensional in their style.
