Flavored zero calorie sparking water has exploded in popularity lately for people that want some other flavor but don’t want the issues with pop/juice.

My best friend was having life issues from booze so he quit a couple years ago. When we hang out he drinks NAs. He said it makes feel like he is participating and it stops others from asking him about it. And, I guess there is a pretty tasty selection these days for NAs.

Athletic Brewing makes some good NAs. I'd been drinking too much lately and have a history of oral cancer so I'm switching to mostly NAs. Maybe a few drinks with friends on the weekends.

coach h had a kid in january and thats changed the way i go about drinking

i do not want to be hung over taking care of a child after a night of drinking.

i tend to just avoid it now but will still have a a few here and there.

have a wedding on saturday and fully intend to indulge in beverages.
ya. kids really get into your booze time. unless you are my dad (drunk)

Agree with this. The ladies around my office have really gotten me into Bubbl'r. It tastes as good as most (fruity) sodas and has zero sugar, maybe 5 cal.

Anywho, as far as alcohol is concerned, I cut back about a year ago to only drinking on Friday nights and Saturday days/nights. Having a young toddler in the house you think would make me want to drink more, but it has been quite the opposite. When I drink, I usually become complacent, lazy, borderline lethargic etc. I just want to sit. This behavior isn't conducive to having a toddler. Needless to say, the weekend drinking has been reduced to really only drinking socially on the weekends now, if the opportunity presents itself.

Can’t speak to the taste side but having NA options for sure makes people feel less excluded and can also help people blend into events. This is very important for those new to sobriety who aren’t comfortable explaining why they aren’t drinking.

I think there's a difference between "drinking alone" and "having a drink alone."

Sometimes in the winter if its snowing a **** load, I'll pour a bourbon and set it on the garage bench. I'll go out and deal with the snow for half hour/hour, come back in garage. Then I'll turn on the radio and enjoy that drink.
There’s nothing wrong with what you’re describing, IMO.

When I do drink this time of year, it’s when I get home from the field when ISU or the Vikings win. I’ll make a Bloody Mary and have a beer chaser while I watch football highlights for 45 minutes or so.

Obviously have done a lot less of that this fall.

I drink NAs a lot when I’m in social situations where I either can’t drink (driving, working after, etc) or just want to pace myself.

NA beer has always made me curious. Like, I enjoy the taste of beer enough, but not sure I'd drink it if not for the 'buzz' component. There are better things to drink strictly for taste in my opinion. Totally get how it might help in situations like you are describing though.

I’m a huge kombucha fan. It’s 100% not for everyone but I like it.
There are more and more local options which is fun to try but there is definitely good and bad kombucha. I didn't like it at first but later tried more and just found out the brand I tried first sucked.

NAs are becoming much more common which is great. Untitled Art has some really good NA options. I've started to keep some NAs around for when a beer sounds good but I don't want any alcohol

My fitness tracker really shows how tough booze is on my body.

My pulse stays very elevated. Stress level increases. Sleep is not deep

Plus I wake up with raging headaches now when I drink more than a couple. It's weird. Almost like I'm allergic to the booze.
This is totally possible.

People act like its normal to feel like ****, but don't like change. My dad ******* about his health but when I suggest he alter his diet he just scoffs.

Drinking does not agree with some people but they can't imagine life without it.

I would say I have a drink probably 4-5 nights a week. Lately I've been coaching my kids, which precludes the post-work drink. By the time I'm home I'm usually too tired for it.

I've amassed a decent whiskey collection of about 40 or so bottles, so I love picking out a pour at night after the kids are asleep.

I'll bring NAs on the boat. I don't have more than 1 or 2 "real" beers if I'm operating (over a multi hour time period). I don't **** around with the DNR.
