I know this was tongue in cheek, but weather had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the game on Saturday. Plus, it was a PERFECT CFB weather day! Could not have been better - even if had been played, uh, not in Iowa!

I understand you can't call what you didn't see. Not sure how they could miss the targeting when Brock got hit head on but ok we'll save that for another day.
But somebody needs to explain how you call a low block when initial contact was to the shoulder pads.

Yep, my post was surely tongue-in-cheek, facetious. The weather is reference to when we played Baylor in Waco in 100 degree weather and they would not allow us to put up shade canopies on our side of the field. Surface temp on our side was 140 degrees. We owe them a -10 degree Iowa State game in Ames with them not allowed to use heaters! Is Baylor really going to go against player safety? Seems like a bad position for them if they tried taking them down.
I agree. Supposedly, according to the announcers, we hadn't gotten prior approval from Baylor for the use of shade canopies. Thus Baylor would not allow us to use them and we were on the sunny side of the field. Baylor's side of the field was in the shade and had shade canopies. The announcers had people who measured the surface temperature on our sideline and it was 140 degrees. The announcers mentioned the situation many times throughout the game-not a good look for Baylor, I agree.
Yeah I guess I don't really know what Baylor would/could do if we did it anyway. Put in a complaint with the Big 12? Not a good look for them if they did something like that imo
A couple of things. The first penalty was helmet on helmet. The second one where our LB knocked the receiver on his ass during a route is also illegal.
Did they seem to miss Baylor infractions later? Yes.
Yeah I kind of wondered about that at the time-just do it anyway and threaten to sue them if they objected. It was pure torture for our players and coaches.
Right, wrong, or indifferent -- that's almost exactly how those in charge want the players to think.
If someone had a heat stroke or something, I would guess Baylor would be liable if they actively prevented us from putting up a canopy. IMO we probably should have just put them up and gave Baylor the finger.
Prior to the ball being thrown downfield contact with receivers is legal. You can knock them on their ass if the ball isn't in the air.
One of the biggest tragedies in Aranda having success is all the trash Baylor fans can pretend like they weren't rationalizing keeping Briles.
I thought you could jam/block a receiver 5 yards from line of scrimmage. Appreciate if anyone can educate me with a rule if I'm wrong. I am no expert.
I'm not sure the replay is conclusive that he made a lot of helmet to helmet contact or that he led with his helmet vs his shoulders. He appears to be moving away as offensive player moves helmet towards him. The big picture is even if that's a 100% right call...it means Baylor should've had 3-4 players tossed and 45-60 yards of penalties of their own on instances that were similar or much more clear cut. If that's the right call and easy targeting 100% of the time, then ISU likely would've won the game if you went back and replay reviewed the whole game that way...or...SHOCKER...if Baylor had been whistled for the same type of BS their D would've played softer instead of just giving ISU automatic 3rd down conversions and 15 yard penalties.

Per your first part, you are right and wrong. You can jam a receiver 5 yards from scrimmage is where you are right. You are wrong that it is just 5 yards, those are pro rules. In college you can be handsy until the ball is in the air no matter the distance.
