2022 Concerts

Vince is horrible. The rest of the band are on point. Mick Mars is so under rated. Great guitar player

Btw Demi Lavato broke the record last night for lowest number of grand stand tickets sold for a state fair grand stand act. Heard 4K.
I saw Sister Hazel and Seven Mary 3 there in the late 90s and there couldn't have been more than 1,000 people there. There were barely anybody even in the grandstand, a majority of the crowd was on the ground.

I find 4,000 as the lowest hard to believe.

Got to Bonnie Raitt (with Mavis Staples opening) at the outdoor McGrath Amphitheater in Cedar Rapids Wednesday night. Excellent show! Bonnie still has it, played a lot of the hits, some new stuff, some bluesy stuff, and absolutely outstanding covers of INXS’ Need You Tonight and Talking Heads’ Burning Down The House. Just an incredible fun show.
I saw Bonnie Raitt at Hilton with Ruth Brown and Charles Brown. One of the best shows I've ever seen.
I'm pretty sure Ruth and Charles Brown are no longer with us, but I got to imagine Bonnie Raitt is still a good show.

I'm not a person who is going to pay to see Demi Lavato, but I really do wish and hope the non-country music acts at the state fair do well. The day I can enjoy the state fair without the stereotypical Iowa hillbillies will be wonderful.

Bonnie just played a show with Mavis Staples in CR and I stupidly missed it. Those who went said it was a fantastic show.

I just caught Wilco on the opening date of their tour at the Paramount in Cedar Rapids, and it was an excellent show.
Their latest album is pretty mellow, so I didn't bring ear plugs. That was a mistake.
They did not hold back and played some pretty deep cuts off of their first album which was awesome.

Alanis was a good one to see for the first time but I wasn’t overly impressed. Jack White the night before didn’t help. The rain and act made it feel like I was a teenager at a show in the nineties. Not all bad.

Couldn’t really do anything about the rain but embrace it. Probably ironic somehow. The prerecorded vocals in a few spots were weird but whatever. I’m a snob. Some stars. Would recommend.

I work at the fair and that is the news we were told. Maybe you are right but that is what they told us.

You must dread ISU football also then.

I'm seriously blocking the next person who mentions Jack White. The FOMO is so real right now.

Enough of this Jack White ass kissing (just kidding, never listened to him).

Presale just announced for Five Finger Death Punch at Wells in December.

I was hoping for Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground, which is one that he usually plays, but it's hard to have any complaints about the show we got.

Did he play “Madman from Manhattan”? By far my favorite of his recent releases.

He didn’t, which is a shame! He had just a ton of energy.

Who’s going to see Tenacious D in about a month in CR?
No, but I highly recommend the D in person. I saw the show they did in the Quad Cities back in 2002 or so for the first album, and it was excellent.

Went to Skillet last week, second time I've seen them. Both times I left with the same thought -- while they put on a good show and don't hack or BS it, both times, their mixing for the environment was just off. This time, most of the instruments were fine, except high guitar parts seemed muted/washed out, and both vocalists were also too quiet. I don't expect it to sound exactly like the studio, but that still was too many noticeable gaps.

Chevelle/Disturbed tomorrow night...saw those two at the Well a few years back and that was awesome. Got high hopes for it this time, too. I think this is the fourth? time I've seen Chevelle going out with another band in the last few years, too.

Just saw Twenty One Pilots in St. Paul. I think it is the best concert I’ve seen
