The only thing I could see is ESPN lo-balling PAC because they prefer an 18 school combo. Having two-three middle class conferences is inefficient to ESPN, unless a conference like the PAC can be had really cheaply.

I would guess they would be better able to manipulate the weekly matchups and timeslots to get the best games in the best slots, raising viewership and thus ad revenue? If you are picking best 2 from 9 games, that's probably easier than best 1 of 6 and best 1 of 5. Esp after dumping the 4 worst draws as well.

Utah fans have pretty much made every other Big 12 fanbase BYU fans
Good point, it's really amazing the damage they are doing. Or I guess if it makes them the bad guy, maybe it's valuable. Odd group of favs though.

As reported when the news broke: "USC/UCLA athletic department sources tell me the travel strain on non-revenue sports was discussed before making the decision to leave Pac-12 for Big Ten. Said one: "We got assurances from Big Ten that it would work with us on some creative thinking scheduling-wise."".

Tricky Warren pitched his creative scheduling for USC's woman's volleyball as an example, and that sealed the deal with USC:
UCLA (home)
Michigan (away)
UCLA (away)
Wisconsin (home)
UCLA (home)
Indiana (away)
UCLA (home)
Nebraska (home)
UCLA (away)
Maryland (away)

Yep. And I would say that Thursday night NFL game that Amazon got in on is the lowest value NFL game out there. So far they have dipped a toe in the water, but none of them have really taken a big plunge into live sports.

Also have to consider that if these games are so valuable for streaming services, CBS has Paramount Plus, NBC has Peacock, and ABC/ESPN have ESPN+. In my mind at this point it seems more natural for the legacy players to buy Tier 1 for their flagship networks then Tier 2 and 3 for the streamer. Then cross promote to drive subscriptions. Amazon or Apple outbidding the others for Tier 1 Big 12 games exclusively on streaming seems like a big leap on their part. And potentially less desirable for the schools as well. The exposure of TV has value. Is a few million more from Apple enough to offset half the audience no longer seeing you on TV?
To me it's mind boggling OTA still has that much pull. By now I would've thought the ability to better 'target' advertising on a streaming platform would've overtaken 'umbrella' OTA advertising. Oh, you can bet the farm that will eventually happen, but apparently not yet.

I would think ISU has a spot in some P2 or P3 conference since we have the 17th best athletics program in the country according to CBS Sports.

I wonder if Stew Mandel knows this???
