I'll be absolutely shocked if Oregon/Wash aren't added with USC/UCLA.
If ND joins they can add Cal or Stanford or both plus Colorado to even out numbers at 18 or 20. If they want an even number they can always add one for ND...or they can have 21 or 19 or 17 because they were totally fine with 11 for a long time.
They can do whatever the **** they want to do and I don't see why having two LA schools makes sense when they could cherry pick the top programs up and down west coast. Wash and Oregon are pretty established football brands.
From what I was told USC/UCLA reached out not the other way around but I was also told no expansion was happening so shrug. Pitt and Duke wouldn’t get the invite but UNC and UVA would be real options.
That on some level I agree with @Jeremy that we're better off competitively in whatever second tier develops, and that we might ultimately be happy with it even if it sucks in the short term. But having said all that, I don't know how you turn down the B1G in the unlikely event an invitation presents itself.
Some of you are gonna look really stupid for shitting all over the new big 12 if this goes the way its trending. If we dont take the new 4 we dont have a shot at Colorado, Utah, or the Zonas
The only way that would happen is in some form of a merger, like what happened with the Big 8 and SWC. Several got left out. But I dont know if that would actually happen this time.
All the talk is which four PAC 12 schools does the Big 12 go after.
Why not at least call a few ACC schools?
While I could see the SEC trying to Clemson and Florida State, I would take Miami over some of the PAC 12 options. Not sure if North Carolina would leave Duke and NC State behind but it is decent enough in football and would make our basketball cache awesome. Who knows, we might even be able to take three ACC schools if BYU decides to go west.

It really only had to do with AAU schools having a Medical program.
So when they said they had no interest in expansion a few months ago, and everyone took it as the gospel....it was actually....what again?
ACC has their schools media rights for at least 10 more years, same reason Oklahoma and Texas can’t leave the Big12 early.
There is no more carrying a region. I think the broadcast companies know that brands are the value not locations at this point. Too many cords are cut and more being severed by the day.
Take as many Pac12 schools as possible and move the Conference Championship game to Vegas. Basketball in KC. Baseball in Phoenix. Wrestling in OKC.
USC is beautiful but isn't in the most glamorous part of LA.
Having spent a lot of time around UCLA...I really don't get why they can't get about any teenage recruit they want. I mean I'd have gone there in a heartbeat as an 18 year old and ignored every other offer, especially that it's a good school on top of all the rest. It's just a beautiful place in the most perfect climate in the US.
The Rose Bowl is cool but it's very disconnected from UCLA (26 miles and cutting through some mountains). I used to live 10 minutes from UCLA but 30-40 minutes from Rose Bowl. Now I live 10 minutes from Rose bowl but 30-40 minutes from UCLA.
USC does have the on campus stadium vibe and in some ways being near their campus on football saturday seems like the only place in the entire state of CA that cares about any college sports.
Either one of them could play games in gigantic SoFi someday if they aren't already. For UCLA it might be closer than Rose Bowl. For USC it'd just be 7 miles from campus instead of on campus.
It's going to be wild living near Rose Bowl and seeing a bunch of Nebraska derps roll through for regular season games even when they suck. (as opposed to teams earning a Rose Bowl spot)
But how much are the exit fees? Those schools aren’t going to sit idle getting $30 million a year while their neighbors are getting $100 million.
Seeing the total lack of the Big 12 in all these discussions elsewhere on the power 2 semi pro league has got me depressed not gonna lie...

I want to move Nebraska to the lower tier but other than Iowa they somehow are better????
Probably switch Iowa and Neb, Neb has sucked long enough it's permanent.
My guess is they like that number 16 like the SEC. Better to mirror your biggest rival than surge ahead. The 4-4 team pod idea is intriguing and leads to interesting tournament possibilities. Mirroring the WC perhaps in structure( top 2 go to the tournament, rest stay home)
yes similar to A&M being the only one against Texas. When there is only one, it doesnt matter. They get overruled.
You were never going to be in the big 2. That’s a fact. Iowa’s case wouldn’t be that strong if they weren’t grandfathered in.
