If the Big12 could poach 4 schools, you have to think the ACC is the next shoe to drop.

Here is why I think the Big 12 is in a better position than the PAC right now and why I think the PAC is screwed.

They basically lost their two biggest brands, and their TV rights negotiations are already happening for 2024. We've seen with OuT how hard it is to get out of the grant of rights and actually exit the conference. Even 1 year is a huge huge number.

The Pac 12 schools can leave in 2024 and do so free and clear. Big 12 schools would still owe that GoR to the rest of the league for at least the 1 year.

Seems if you flip Big 12 and PAC in this post you still get a working theory

#2 is such an intriguing option because there are now 22 schools across these two leagues and I bet there could be calls about trying to get the 12 or 14 most valuable to stick together and drop the rest. That would not be a clean "League A absorbs some of League B" but rather schools from both leagues merge and leave behind other schools from both leagues. Will be fascinating to see.
I think Iowa State is in pretty good shape if that happens. We have the largest football stadium of the B12 teams. The 2nd best schools in Kansas, Arizona, Oregon and Washington are probably left out.

The Big 12 is only in an advantageous position here because the contract for the Pac 12 is up in 2024 and the Big 12 is 2025. The Big 12 can onboard everybody without any GoR issues. The Pac doesn't have that luxury.
Yeah the Pac has to make a move asap or those media talks are going to be awful. Honestly because of the timing this might be worse then what OUT did.

It’s super dumb that NW, Indiana, Vandy and Miss St are part of this as of now but fsu and Clemson aren’t.

The easy starting points for who gets left out are the new additions to the Big 12 plus Washington State and Oregon State. That’s 16 already. I would probably drop West Virginia solely for geographic reasons, and then screw Baylor. Thats 14. BYU probably deserves to be in based on financial value but the Pac-12 schools we are taking here likely don’t want them in so we can go with that.

So the league is Iowa State, Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Utah, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington. 14 schools.
