Long time lurker, first time poster. My spouse and I are thinking of doing a trip sponsored by the ISU Alumni Association/traveling Cyclones. We would like some input from those that have been on one of these sponsored trip(s) or have considered them. Spouse has been all over including Barcelona, so do not need advice on the trip itself, just the advantage/disadvantages of going through the ISU Alumni.

I like that there will be fellow Cyclones and that there is a traveling attendant and everything is all set up for you.
Pamphlet says you're giving back to the Alumni Association, which is fine but not sure if the premium is worth the advantages?

We are looking at the Barcelona to Rome cruise with pre-trip in Barcelona and post-trip in Rome.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Will be interested to see if you get any responses. I've looked at these and some have a no supplement single option which is a big deal for an older dude like me that no longer has a traveling companion. Double occupancy is a trip killer for me on most "tours", exception being one Viking river cruise I was able to talk them down some in a late booking fire sale. As a single having a built in small group of alumni you have at least something in common with is appealing.

If you wanted to stop by the Alumni Center and chat with the travel peeps they would certainly take the time to talk with you. Would call first to make sure they are available.

Also wondering if there will be much response, I searched and could not find any prior threads and none of my cyclone friends have been on a trip.

Thanks for the heads up on talking to the alumni, I do not live too far so that would work.

Glad you started the thread because I've wondered if it was worth, what appears to be a premium price compared to other providers.

No first hand experience, but what I’ve heard is that they are pricey but done very well (and fill up quickly).

My guess is with your username, you are probably a generation (or 2) younger than their typical traveler.

Not retired so probably younger, but not by that much. Cthulhu worship is open to all ages!
