Brings up a good question - against which opponents would it be okay to storm the court if ISU beat them this year?
I think there's only a few on our schedule this year. Oklahoma is a bona fide top 10 team in the country and has the best player in college basketball. It would be a huge win, and I would have no problems if we stormed the court if we beat OU.
KU is questionable. KU is traditionally a basketball powerhouse, has played in many close games with ISU a few years, and is the defending national champion. However, KU also is not ranked (and won't likely be ranked when they go to Ames) and has not yet won a road game. It's a game that could be perceived as being a bigger win than it really is. Weighing both sides, I don't think I would have a problem if we stormed the court if we beat KU.
Baylor is also questionable. They're a solid team this year and will probably bring a 20-6 (8-4) or so record into Ames. While they're probably better and ranked higher than KU this year, they've haven't had much success traditionally and don't carry a big name. I think if ISU fans had to choose, they would rather have a win over KU this year, but I could be wrong. I think I'd be okay if we stormed the court if we beat Baylor, but only if they were in the top 15-20 at the time.
Last, and this is a stretch, but if we were to win the Big 12 with a win in our final game against TTU, I'd be fully okay with storming the court. I said it was a stretch.
On the flip side, I would be embarrassed if we stormed the court against any of our other opponnents. Mizzou, KSU, NU, CU, and TTU are not big enough opponents to have us storming the court and looking as stupid as the Wake Forest fans did tonight. They are all games in which we as ISU fans should expect to win.
