AJ Green Leaves the Portal - Staying in Draft

the only place he'd get more attention is in the media b/c the media sucks Dukes purple headed yogurt slinger.

nba scouts are still going to see him at duke or at iowa state and that's the attention he wants.

True and agree...but NBA scouts would see him anywhere he decides to go...they find talent in places there isn't supposed to be talent!

Right.. if his goal is the NBA i don't believe Duke has a leg up there.

Outside of brand recognition he would still get the eyes of scouts anywhere.

there are plenty of duke busts in the NBA so it's not like if you go there you're automatically going to have success in the NBA.

Jeremy Roach is a dude and Trevor Keels is still making a draft decision. Everybody else is gone.
So...we're rooting for Keels to announce he's leaving the draft and coming back to Duke..correct? Or won't that even tilt the decision?

That's where I'm at. If Keels comes back, that's a lot less minutes available at Duke. He's fringe 1st round guy in most mocks right now.

Duke has 5 players invited to the Combine. Geesh. ISU and Iowa are probably giddy if they each can get 1 (or 2) a year.

Will he get more media attention at Duke? Possibly, but there are different variables there too where maybe not as well. Team attention doesn't necessarily mean individual attention. Does it raise his chances of getting drafted? Doubt it. If you've got NBA talent, college basketball is a small enough pool of fish where you get noticed wherever you are. College football on the other hand has a much better argument to be made about being on one team vs the next. If we get AJ, I'd be shocked if we aren't a tournament team next year with plenty of visibility to be had from our team, much less him likely being the focal point of the team.

If his goal is NBA, it's no longer about exposure. He's been seen for 4 years. It's about growth. Where will he develop the most?

How many schools have tanked on their follow-up coach? Yes, reputation is something, but not in a transition year. It's sure interesting though.

Scheyer may very well fail.

But those results won’t be known for at least 4-5 years. That doesn’t impact AJ’s decision at all
