Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

I’m sorry what have I been off on for realignment? Pretty sure I said every single thing that happened. Also I started a thread last summer on how ISU should start an NIL fund to get each player 50-100k and was negged to oblivion
You downplayed how many were willing to do pay for play and NIL.

And USC. As their AD said, all options are on the table.

A P2 is coming.

The wheels are going to come off the bus faster than any of us thought in college athletics.

If you think about it, how many all-time Cyclone greats would have been here for more than 1-2 years tops, if there had been pay-to-play in their time?

We'd be foolish to assume guys like Monte, Tinsley, Fizer, Cato, Willoughby, Babb, Ejim, Niang, Matt Thomas would all be multi-year players for us.

Not saying all of them would have left early, but realistically most of that list would have cut their ISU careers short.

It's very depressing to think about.

Hahaha so I was wrong becuase the USC ad mentioned they are exploring options? They haven’t moved yet so I’m not wrong. Also just because you keep beating this delusional drum on a P2 doesn’t make me wrong because again it hasn’t happened and won’t for the foreseeable future.

And again almost a year ago I suggested ISU create an NIL fund doing exactly what they are planning on doing right now and was told I was an idiot.

Should I quote what you proclaimed?

As I told you then, you're out of your element on that one. USC is going to get theirs, and there are several paths they will use if needed, ones you said they would not consider.

In the same thread, you were bearish on P2 and pay to play. Soon. very soon.

Again still haven’t been proven wrong on a single thing, all you are doing is saying I’m wrong based on your own ideas for what is going to happen.

Also there are still rules in place for pay to play and I told people to start an ISU fund here.

As annoying as Hunter at Kansas would be, I think you're right that from a pure basketball standpoint, it sure beats them having Pack or Davis.

I think Hunter can become a great college player, and already is a great college defender. But he's far from Pack or Davis on offense at this point.

Now watch him shoot 40% from three next year and turn it over half as much because I just said that.
People need to realize that just because he was a great defender here doesn't mean he will be wherever he lands. So much of that can be coach-driven. Maybe he doesn't actually like to play defense and that's part of the reason he's transferring.

Agreed. I think defense is very team-driven, both in philosophy and scheme. I do expect Hunter to remain very good there, but so much of defense in basketball is having all 5 guys locked in and doing the right things.

And they can let other people test drive draft picks before poaching them as sophomores and passing on the ****** ones.

Ironically it may actually push some good recruits our way, assuming the big boys are constantly poaching transfers and filling up that way. But it also means that the good ones will be 1-&-done's for us as they move on to greener pastures (no pun intended $$$)

Lifewallet is like an app to house your medical history. It allows you to share it with any providers you need to. It was started by a guy in Miami, I don't believe he is a Miami alumni but has NIL deals with numerous Miami athletes and lists them all on the website.\

Generally speaking, most guys that win FOTY in their conference at the highest levels usually end up declaring for the NBA draft anyway. I don't think it changes that much for ISU. A freshman that has a good year can still end up leaving obviously, but the ones who are great mostly do regardless.

Okay, so I do need to quote you.

NIL is already bigger than you had alluded to, and you were adamant USC would not consider a move based on the president POV. As I said, it is well above that pay grade.

Are you thinking no Pac12 or ACC teams are added to SEC or BIG within 5 years?

Again USC hasn’t moved. If you can get one of my posts on realignment that has actually been proven wrong and that isn’t a hypothetical then I will happily say I’m wrong. But you can’t because i haven’t said anything wrong that has come to pass.

I will admit I’m kinda stunned by the NIL deal for the Kansas state guy. When I was referring to those numbers earlier I was thinking football but didn’t specify so I will own that being incorrect.

This is an example why I don't think the current NIL payments are sustainable.

Maybe Lifewallet is banking cash and the greatest idea since YouTube. But I stuggle how it makes business sense to pay a 20 year old kid to be a spokesperson for a medical App. If I were a Lifewallet employee, I would be questioning this as a marketing strategy. Maybe the company is hoping Pack will be an NBA Superstar and can grow their business. But why not just hire an existing sport star.

Maybe Pack has a big social media following like the twins from Fresno that transferred to Miami. Seems like Miami is auditioning for the SEC!

Miami. It’s all cartel money :jimlad: (but kinda not)

On a side note…not sure why you would question it from a marketing perspective. You didn’t know this company existed until today. Seems like fantastic marketing.

It is Saturday night on a message board, and we're talking about LifeWallet. Super cheap marketing. 800k for a national marketing is missing a comma. They nailed this. An existing star that would get equal penetration would be millions.

Once deals are more common place, it will be harder to get ROI just from the announcement itself, but it is no different than any other athlete endorsement. That is a large segment of the marketing industry.
