With the 2 commits we've landed and who we've been linked to, do you think we're going away from last year's style?
Defense wins, so why would we abandon that? Our lack of offense wasn't always an intentional decision.

Our ISU’s “heavy hitting boosters” even close to the realm of other Big 12 schools? NIL is going to effectively ruin college athletics and the fact that each school has to have an NIL collective just to attempt to keep players is sad.
why is it ruining? because you can't keep player for less than market rate?

Wow, a couple of "media professionals" acting like a couple of teenagers on a national forum. Nice work, guys.
Well the part that I agree it’s garbage is the idea that it’s the players that are driving the value and not the school.

Armando Bacot is probably a G-League/2 way guy if he goes. He’s going to stay at UNC and make WAY more money through NIL. He’s not getting it because he’s Armando Bacot. He’s getting it because he’s one of the better guys in a North Carolina jersey. You have decades of building infrastructure and fanbases that give or at a minimum greatly enhance a player’s value. Bacot leaves UNC and it has zero impact on the value of UNC basketball. If Bacot goes to Wyoming, he has almost zero NIL value.

The school has the right to reject and I can't imagine a school deciding that they want to be attached to that at this point.

We kinda already did, so did LSU and a couple others. If they accept this why not NIL? Also i think barstool has something going on with alot of athletes with gambling

Last year we were severely offensively challenged. We lose Brockington and Hunter and replaced them with a couple defensive transfers but yeah I’m sure we will be fine next year, lol.
What did you say about the roster coming into this season?

I watched the Celtics yesterday. It was extremely entertaining. High-skilled, high-performance, experienced players on a team with brand appeal (that are paid millions to bounce a rubber ball in their underwear). Why would anyone waste their time watching semi-pro players who are nowhere near as skilled? College sports has been destroyed. It will never be fair or amateur and it will never compete with legitimate professional sports.

I think it will be interesting to find out how much the NIL affects other donation levels over the next few years at ISU.
If you think about it, there isn't a large base of rich donors that we have. We don't have a boone pickens either.

So If I am an alumni that has a lot of money and donate 300K to this NIL fund, then its probably money I don't donate to something else in the AD or the school. Maybe wrong, but there is only so much money to go around.

There needs to be some system setup like the alumni club where we can all donate 50-100 bucks into a big NIL pot. Maybe even get the cartel involved...lol

CFB is the second most watched sport in the country in terms of ratings, over the NBA and MLB by quite a bit. CBB is much farther behind

This thread is funny.

I’ve said it before…. greed eventually ruins everything. Who is really surprised to see this day coming?

Just look at what Texas and OU are doing to the Big 12.

So it’s just funny to see all these people on here that are shocked about this.

Are we greedy for expecting him to stay and "be loyal" though?

Exactly.

Here is a list of what I got along time ago:
1. Full Scholarship - Tuition, Books, Housing, Meals all taken care of (Housing is paid at the Dorm rate so if you find something cheaper you pocket the difference)
2. Pell Grant - Full amount available to use as spending money
3. NCAA Student Athlete Assistance Fund - $500/year to buy clothes
4. Cash for Sunday Dinner because it wasn't part of the meal plan
5. I also got an ISU Grant with was $600/year
How much was the pell grant for the year worth?
