Friday OT #1 - Mr. Know-It-All

Just a quick example.... some states car policies will pay out some death benefits from your own policy to your beneficiaries in the event that you pass away in a car accident. Also, if your pet dies in a car accident (pet must be in the car) you can get some coverage for that too.

I spent some time doing claims during the great recession.

It was a really interesting and bloody way to earn a living. The better you got at the job the more blood you saw. (I didn't make it to fatalities before I left)

I came away with so many stories in just a year. It was wild...and it made me a little more cautious behind the wheel. Loved the dark humor in that industry

If you have pet insurance, yes. It's a separate policy you can buy.
I had a pet insurance but like all premiums it has gotten pricey. Was hoping my auto insurance would have coverage for him since he goes everywhere I go.

Dairy production
Parental leave
Working mom issues like maternity leave rights, daycare,
Pelvic floor physical therapy (magic)
Pregnancy, L&D, and PP in the US. Not as much as a medical professional but definitely more than the average layperson. I've accurately diagnosed pre-eclampsia and retained placenta via chat.

Not in that order lol

I have been subtly dropping hints that I think my wife should get pelvic floor therapy now that we are done. Seems like a no brainer to me.

100% do it. I did it during pregnancy this time even because I was getting spd pain which can become debilitating. Nipped it in the bud. Pfpt is part of standard post partum care in much of the world. It's for way more than oh I sneeze and pee. Back pain, hip pain, return to running, bedroom issues, wrist pain, headaches, ab separation...pregnancy is hard on your body.

Right...people need to realize that City's are primarily built by private companies making private investments. Occasionally the City gets involved building some infrastructure, City-owned buildings, or giving incentives, but that is the exception not the rule when you look at everything built in a City.

I always like to explain it that the City is a referee. The government sets rules for development and ensures that the players (private developers and private landowners) follow the rules. Now you can complain about the rules and ask that they be changed, but you can't blame the City for the actions of the players if they are following the rules.

I've never been employed in government, but I'm getting ready to start my sixth year on a city commission (the last two of which I was vice chair and then chair). People assume (even members of our own commission) that we have a lot more latitude than we want to start projects and/or fund them - they don't realize how closely we are bound by what has been or will be approved by City Council, what is earmarked in our budget, and what is specifically in our purview. I can't even imagine what that's like on a larger scale.
