NFL: ***2022 NFL Season Thread***

Apparently they wanted to knock the Raiders out of the playoffs even if it meant losing. Raiders were going to let the time run out. Chargers calling timeout made the Raiders (especially the coaching staff) want to knock the Chargers out of the playoffs.

Agreed. I think LV was content running the clock out. There was no reason for LA to call that timeout. LV coaches say ok **** you we are gonna win this then and send you home.

Non-Playoff Teams Draft Order is now set:

They still had another timeout which they would have used if the Raiders had taken a knee instead of running for the first down.
What makes you say that? I think they took it and said don’t just blindly sell out, they could dump a pass behind you then and it’s over with. LV was playing to win the whole time.

Naw……according to several on here they weren’t playing to win, just to not lose, they didn’t care where they went.

Do I need the pirate. They were playing to win (teams that are not crap play to win games). They knew a win would put them in a better seed.

Something has to give in Raiders/Bengals game.Neither franchise has won a playoff game in the last 20 years.

He also said, as did QB Carr, that the Chargers calling the timeout changed their thinking. They were definitely going to let the clock run out
This makes no sense, as has been repeated already. The Chargers called a timeout with less than five seconds on the play clock cause they were disorganized on defense. The Raiders were going to run the ball no matter what, the timeout didn't change that. They just ended up getting ten yards after the play. I'm not sure why Staley is getting crucified for the timeout. It's totally different if he calls it right away but if he was so concerned with trying to get the ball back and win, why call it with four seconds left on the play clock? People are not using their brain evaluating this situation

I don't buy that. I think they were going to play conservative and if that allowed them to get into field goal range, then great. So while I don't think they were "playing for a tie" per se, I don't think they were going to do anything the risk it being worse than a tie.
