Well, all the teams I cheered for lost yesterday, Iowa won, I got a sunburn, and I had an argument with an ******* Wisconsin fan who was booing Mertz so none of that was great, but beside that yesterday was pretty fun

Woo, I gave this post a friendly, but it actually made me laugh, but I didn't want the laughing emoji to be misunderstood. Yep somedays you just have to roll with the punches and make the best of it.

Any accountants on here? I have a simple question for W4. Should me and my wife both be selecting the box on step 2? We both work and there is only a small difference in each of our incomes. The way I'm reading it, it would be yes but I'm bad at this stuff.

Sounds like it. Did you change jobs so you need to fill another out?

Well we just had a child so I wanted to update it for that, but just noticed I did not have that box checked for whatever reason.
Congrats on the kid! If things were pretty solid in the past for withholding, then just adding the deduction would work also. If money is not an issue, you could leave things alone and get a refund for this year.

Tax Deductions are one of the sneaky best things about having kids.
I honestly don’t like the deposits they now send though, out it in savings now. When you are self employed, you never know what your income may be so things like that aren’t the best.

Based upon the IRS instructions you should. However, whether you should take advantage of the deductions/exemptions is a more complicated question.
