Yet another..
East - WV, Cincinnati, Central Florida, I-State, K-State, Kansas
West - TT, Oklahoma State, BYU, TCU, Houston, and Baylor
View attachment 89730
This is the best option.

If we someday add Memphis and three west coast teams the pods would be:

East:
UCin
WVU
UCF
UMem

North:
ISU
KSU
KU
OSU

South
TT
TCU
BU
UH

West
BYU
3 west coast teams, maybe BSU maybe PAC 12 leftovers

That would be a nationwide conference with local pods. The best of both worlds.

The first question is, what west coast teams could we get and want to get?

I see lots of posts saying Arizona and ASU, but if we're trying to broaden the BIG XII footprint having both makes little sense. Same goes for Utah, although they might appeal to a different demographic than BYU in the state of Utah.

The second question is who to add if someone else jumps. KU is clearly interested in the B1G and I could see WVU (either alone or with KU) trying to go to the ACC. That would make "local" pods more difficult.

Not exactly sure.

If KU is gone then the whole B12 expansion discussion is irrelevant to us.

There is still a real chance that the B1G would add KU and Colorado.

I would hope that would push the Pac-12 to add five of ISU, KSU, OSU, Tech, TCU, Houston. Objectively we are a better pick than KSU but if they go OSU plus three Texas schools, KSU has a bit of a geographic advantage.

I don’t expect this to happen but the B1G could take KU and not us.

Imagine the New Big 12 with K-State, Baylor, WVU, and the four additions. They can get Boise State, Memphis, and like SMU to get back to 10.

Kansas isn't the question in the big ten. They will be the first choice. I fully believe that ISU will be the second choice. I think CU feels more at home in the west coast area than with the midwest teams. They left the big 12 which was midwest and plains, so going midwest and Mideast would seem like a strange change.

If KU leaves they will have to pay us the $40 million AND buy their way into the B1G. I think it's just as likely (if not more likely) that USC will not be happy with the new contract negotiations and will take Oregon to the B1G in the next couple years. That will leave the PAC in the same situation as we were, but with no solid teams in the west to add.

In that scenario their contract will go down even MORE and we would be able to cherry pick the three best fits for the new 16 team BIG XII.

I agree but have you met Buff fans? A strange bunch is big understatement.

Ok, I will bite, why three to go to 15 and not 4 to go to 16?

Oh, I must have missed the Memphis thing. Why Memphis over another PAC team? I just don't get the Memphis love.

I figure they don't even know what conference they are in after a brownie or two.
Brownies are so 90's, gummies are where it's at. One Colorado gummie bear has the potential to put you on your knees and wonder what kind animal gives live birth to nachos. Trust me.

It's been years and I don't partake anymore but I am just making sure are a well informed poster. ;)
I give you the go ahead to research it some more for me. I have no desire, so I lean on you like I lean on my single friends for the wild life. (although their life seems to suck majorally now)

Fort Collins doesn't need any more people moving here but it's a special spot. CSU would be a great addition and would bloom with Big 12 $$, no different than the 4 teams we are adding.
No it won’t. I went to a game when they were #16 in 2002. Completely overestimated announced attendance of 28,000. Top 20 team and it was like being at a KU game. Their home game against ranked Boise St. in 2019 drew 12,000!

At least when Houston was good under Herman they were getting 35-40k and their mediocre teams draw around 30k.

I wish CSU was in a better position to bring value but you have to demonstrate as a school that people are going to watch. Yes any team is going to get a boost going to a major conference but they just have way too far to go to get to the point where they benefit the Big 12.

LOL. Or that it doesn't really matter, you know?
Yeah, I don't think conferences matter to them as much. They feel they are west coast and are where they belong. I question USC and Oregon leaving the PAC. They have the money (donations) to do what they want. They have power in the PAC. If they are paying attention, they will see what happened to Nebraska, what will happen to UT and OU in the SEC. Those teams will lose the say the currently have. USC and Oregon would lose that in the Big ten. They would need at least 4 teams to hold any sway there. Is the big ten willing to grab 4-6 teams, knowing it would most likely financially hit them?
