The size of the football stadium is a good measure of football interest.
The remaining Big 8 have stadiums: 61,500 (ISU), 60,000 (OkSt), 60,000 (TT), 60,000 (WVa), 50,000 (KSt), 50,000 (TCU), 50,000 (Baylor), and 47,000 (KU). We currently have four schools at about 60,000, and four schools at about 50,000. (This also helps explain the problem with our last big metro school KU.)

Suggested new member stadiums: 77,200 (Houston), 63,470 (BYU), 45,301(Central Florida), and 40,000 (Cincinnati).

The two western schools match our four highest capacity schools, but the two eastern colleges have smaller stadiums than our smallest, so why add them?

Others could have included Louisville (61,000) etc.

FYI Boisie State is 36,387. UNLV is the new pro stadium, but is one more timezone west

are you using Houston Texan's Stadium? Houston Cougars stadium is like 40,000.

and technically UNLV could probably be playing in a a stadium that holds 20,000...lol

You are right on Houston (42,822), however UNLV will use the new pro stadium instead of their old one, hopefully this will increase their visibility and attendance.

Gosh, remember when we had a tiny crappy scoreboard with some bleachers in the south endzone, a wind tunnel and our capacity was listed at 44,000. man times have changed.

Also worth noting that UCF is already in planning stages of upgrading their stadium:
The stadium was designed for a planned expansion to 65,000 seats. UCF plans to begin the expansion by expanding the Roth Tower with more suites and club seating, and also adding an additional 10,000 seats in a third level on the east side of the stadium, increasing the stadium's capacity to 56,000

Attendance numbers are more important than capacity. BYU has top 25 attendance. UCF has been squarely in the P5 range, about the same as KSU, BU, TCU, and more than KU. Cincinnati and Houston have a ways to go; I think Houston will benefit greatly from Tech/TCU/BU/OSU alumni and fans who live in the Houston market and will attend those games. Cincinnati is the open question for me.

If ISU can play UC and UCF (division games) and have two TX games every year, I think that would be the best for recruiting.

I think this keeps the teams together that want to play each other, too.

*ISU, KU, KSU

*OSU and all Texas schools - I know we want OSU, but when push comes to shove, they’d rather be tied to Texas for recruiting

*WVU, Cincy, UCF - WVU recruits Florida heavily; they would much, much, much rather get UCF than BYU

That makes the East/West outcome pretty easy.
