Help me out fanatics. My wife had a mysterious charge for 12 dollars show up from a ”Greek Garden Cape Coral FL “ on our online banking. I canceled her card and then she got a SS from a friend with the same thing on theirs. Anyone else see that on their statement? She used it at the fair and so did her friend. Dates don’t exactly line up though for us or her friend

Call the police. Make sure you change all bank accounts. Once they have one.. they have them all. I’d also suggest getting credit monitoring for a year/3. (You can never be too safe).

I have LifeLock I’m just worried she got her number stolen at the fair

Happened to me once a couple of years ago. Some clown charged my CC 40 sum bucks at a gas station in Lansing MI. CC company cancelled it and gave me the money back. Who knows how they got it but I have never been to Lansign MI.

Did you buy something for 12 bucks from the fair? Seems like a pretty round number like fair food is. I'm wondering if maybe some food truck processes their card transactions out of a space in Florida. Charges don't always post date of.

That is my initial thought. A lot of small vendors have stuff like taht where it processes weird at the start and sometimes seems to correct itself.

Otherwise, dispute the charge, cancel that card/get a replacement, and keep a close eye on your cards or accounts for a little while. It's happened to me probably 3 times now in the past 15 years or so with my credit cards (and, yes, I am responsible with them, sometimes they just get a lucky guess).

Make sure you get the accounts changed and new cards. This is a tester charge. To see if you are paying attention to the account. If you don't do anything, they'll take what they can.

Could have been stolen anywhere, wasn't there a huge breach recently with a mobile phone company?

No need to call the police, they won't do ****. My mom had her card stolen a few years ago. The guy was using it all over town. He was on multiple cameras using the card. The police brushed it off as, "What do you want us to do about it?"

Just make sure your bank knows, so you aren't liable for anything.

It’s one of the vendors at the fair. Mine was for $14 from

THE BEST AROUND 3 CAPE CORAL FL

Two funnel cakes. Worth every dollar.

Fair vendors are going to be even more pissed about being forced onto credit card systems with all these random chargebacks from customers that cannot remember spending $12 on fair junk food.

Im not saying it’s not fraud. However, this happened to us recently…

I saw a charge on our card from a grocery store in Texas. “Fresh By Brookshires” is the name. I did some digging and noticed there were several charges from this same place every few weeks. Each one was never more than $20.

I called our credit union to report the fraud. Customer service looked into and realized it was from Fresh Mediterranean Grill in Waukee. My wife goes there all the time. He said their system must’ve seen the description and mislabeled the transactions.

I would calm your bank or CC and ask about the charge regardless.

I get my CC info stolen about 1 to 2 times a year. Report it to your CC company they will reverse the charges no/few questions asked. Now if you got some junk food at the fair better un-reverse it.

Was she using a debit card or a credit card? I haven't used my DC for ages as I think you have a greater exposure to fraud. I put everything on a CC, earn points, and pay it off every month. Most of my bills such as utilities, insurance, etc go on my card. Just have to remember how much you put on each month so it's not a surprise.

Don’t call the police. You’ll look like an idiot. Especially if it’s a Vendor.
