Not me, and that's why the moving truck shows up tomorrow. We're taking your advice and getting out of here. Real estate is bananas.I would have done the same thing. It's nuts. Who the hell is going to pay 300k to live in Litchfield Park?lol

It's depressing is what it is. Last December I was looking at homes in A.J. for 200-225. Those are up over 300 now easy. I could buy a home in Palm Springs cheaper than that and make 1.5x what I'm making now.Not me, and that's why the moving truck shows up tomorrow. We're taking your advice and getting out of here. I feel that. Should have bought earlier but I'm not that smart... ughI see now that homes in west Phoenix are now around 300k. That would be like living in South Central LA. It said in AZ central that home values in the valley went up 25% alone in May. I'm looking to get out of here. I can't afford to buy a place.
Everyone complaining about the crisis, where are you planning to move that is any better with the same quality of life?
A place with higher wages for blue collar workers. I'm a skilled laborer and I can make 15$ more an hour in Vegas and its cheaper to live there. The problem in Phoenix is that if you are a blue collar worker you can't afford to buy or rent there anymore. I can do it I just won't have any extra money. The bang for your buck in Arizona is bad. Alabama-like wages and Colorado-like housing costs. No union presence in the state whatsoever. I made $3/hr more in DM. It's bad. If you are a tech worker who makes 6 figures it's probably not as bad. I can make more per hour in KC and still buy a house there for under 200k.Everyone complaining about the crisis, where are you planning to move that is any better with the same quality of life?

That's not even close to being the norm. A street maintenance worker in Phoenix may make 20/hr. They make more than that in DM. That's not the industry I'm in but that is kind of the story. You look at individual trades and union scale in even Iowa blows AZ out of the water. I can make $2/hr more in Albuquerque than I do in PHX.I had someone do some basic wood finishing work on my house this weekend (socal) at the agreed upon price, only to complain to me afterward they only made $100 after they paid for supplies and $100 an hour wasn't worth coming out. Not worth it to make $400 profit in four hours.

I think it costs even more to live in Flagstaff. Tucson used to be a little more affordable but I think that's even changing.I'm always surprised there isn't more population boom in Northern Arizona. Maybe there is and I don't know about it.

I'm taking a serious look at the Savannah, GA/Hilton Head area. Surprisingly you can still get homes there for under 200k.I think Flagstaff is like a Arizona rich person get away. Additionally, its a tourist destination for outdoor type stuff.
My wife's family owns a ranch in northern Arizona, and the impression I get is that its more agriculture based type of economy. Maybe mining and stuff like that too, but nothing really corporate.

That's why I'm looking elswhere. So why live there?
So why live there?
I knew it was going to be more expensive to live in AZ than DM but it was worth it to me to live in a warmer climate. I do love Arizona but I wasn't prepared for homes values to increase 50% in 6 months.I won't speak for dedric, but when we moved to Phoenix cost of living was pretty comparable to the midwest. That's no longer the case and it's quite a margin different now. Also, not everyone has the ability to just pick up and move on a whim. Moving long distance isn't cheap either.

I'll be gone by then.Hope you REALLY like warmer climates. With the way things are going.... summers in AZ will probably be 130 degrees before long.
