I doubt CBS wants to stay totally out of college football. I think they were paying pretty well for the SEC game of the week, and when ESPN tripled them or whatever, they were probably like, WTAF? There really aren't any normal shows or alternative sports that are going to draw anywhere nearly as well as college football on a Saturday afternoon, so I'll bet they're looking for options.

If CBS wanted to get serious, they could sure throw a lot of games on Network TV and their sports network. CBS just (re)signed a deal with the Mountain West as well. TV networks know sports keeps the eyeballs. Heck, CBS could create a bowl game or two to start competing with ESPN a bit there too. There are lots of options there. Fox and CBS could combine for Tier 1 and Tier 2 content like ESPN and Fox do right now. You wonder about Tier 3 content at that point. Oh well, more options.

I don’t know if this would be legal but with the way things work now and with the pageantry of college athletics now dying, why don’t we explore selling the name of the conference for a big ass check from Amazon, Apple, or whatever? The Amazon Conference or the Big West brought to you by Amazon. Do a deal with Amazon for tv rights and just own it. Seriously, I don’t love it but it would be worth potentially millions for every school, every year.

There's both. Most members don't have football.

Big West schools include UC Irvine, UCSB, Hawai'i (MWC for football) ...
West Coast: Gonzaga, St. Mary's, BYU (independent for football)...
