Difference in the DL now and then is the depth. Before there would be a couple good players but then nothing beyond that. Now they at least have quality depth where guys can rotate and be kept fresh.
Rhoads had some really good defenses in general. That 2011 team, I think 10 of the 11 starters went on to NFL rosters. Maggitt was the only starter that never signed with an NFL team.
I meant that they were on rosters at one point. Don't forget the DBs - LJ, Broomfield, Washington, Reeves... One of the other safeties was with he Chiefs for a short while but I can't think of his name.I wouldn't classify training camp invites or practice squads as "making a roster".
2011 defense: Klein, Johnson and Irving actually played in the NFL, with Laing in the CFL.
2012 defense: Klein, George, Irving; Laing (CFL).
2013 defense: George, Irving
So, is Rose still a possibility?
That’s the funny thing to me. We have this really sweet group of linebackers already committed. And at least a half dozen other guys in places like Illinois, Ohio and Florida that I’d still cheerfully take to fit with them at linebacker—including Matt Rose.
My, the times have certainly changed at Jack Trice Stadium.
Yes I believe Mike is still our guy. I think he starts this year. Ha.Rose is still in play.
I would argue Earl's lines would be worth consideration. Our DL is the best it has been in our history history, much better than even highly thought of DL we have had in the past. Wasn’t that obvious? And why did you get confused and think it was about Will McDonough? There is no reason to given the context of my the post I responded to.
What’s your point?
