Based on some of the reactions in this thread it’s clear some people are playing checkers while the coaching staff is playing chess. There’s a bigger picture with what the staff sees and what they are trying to build long-term. Judging what A player averages on another team is a poor way of determining whether they’re going to be successful elsewhere....they could’ve been underutilized, it could’ve been a system that didn’t play to his strengths etc. etc. There’s a ton of ways to contribute to a team and T J. has a track record of evaluating talent and utilizing it to its full potential. Have some faith....and dare I say trust the process?

Also do people really not think the coaching staff is not evaluating all options? I promise you they have a solid pulse on what’s out there and what they want.

I find it hard to believe that given the amount of guys in the portal, there aren't a few that would prioritize playing in a premier conference and having a huge role if they can earn it. I really think the record the past two years is extremely overblown when you're talking recruiting guys who may be looking to jump up a level or two and get chances on ESPN/whatever. I would bet guys are more likely to think they'll change that and help turn the team into a winner than worried about what happened before they came.
We weren’t the only P5 team who was interested in this guy.. Minnesota and Virginia Tech were involved. We should stop acting like we begged this guy to come play for us and his other choice was UMKC or something.

Tall and good rebounder. Could fill a role. Definitely not the flashiest pickup but may be a solid player and at worst is a big body. Next couple pickups will hopefully be a little higher caliber

If he gives us better D-rebounding and a post D presence along w/the other intangibles noted earlier in this thread, I can live with this move.

The money moves are for the last two schollies: need a long, scoring wing who can defend and a crunch time bucket getter.

I think people are severely underestimating the jump from role player on a really bad Summit League team to contributing at all in the B12. And yes, I do think that Iowa State should be looking for guys that can contribute spots 1-13. You don't or shouldn't recruit backups at this level, even though some guys will end up in that role. You recruit the best players you can that fit and find out how it shakes out in practice. Because you will miss on guys you think are starters and need every bit of talent that you can get.

I don't have the time to quote every post you've made since the coaching search started but you are free to look back at them.
I checked. You were wrong.
CyLyte2, you've made some weird posts recently. If you ask people to go back they will so I'd drop it. Also arguing, repeatedly with various posters is not an endearing quality.

I will be happy if I am wrong, but I also have no idea what "involved" means. Does it mean making even the smallest amount of contact or an immediate scholarship offer?

Have no clue. That’s just what’s been put out there on Robert’s side. But you’re right we may not actually know if either of those teams offered scholarships.

I’d certainly be shocked if we saw this dude’s name pop up and immediately offered him. I hope not anyway lol.

This may or may not help.

Per 40 minutes, 2 seasons:
15.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.2 ast, 1.0 blk, 5.2 PF … .603 FG%, but .476 FT% (!)
I don’t think Jaz is a “physical presence”. He’s a shooter.
CyLyte2, whatever you say. I hope you're right about the shooting. I am not convinced based on 500's post. No mention of 3 point shooting, I don't think he does much of that. And 47% Free Throw percentage is not good, tells me he's more an in-close shooter. I could be wrong, I haven't read anything on him yet.

I’ll say it falls somewhere in between our points we’ve made. I’m more pointing out that for all we know he could be one of the best options for what T.J. is trying to do and build. It’s all speculation but I trust the staff knows what they’re doing. This wasn’t a decision that was made overnight. I’m more just looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

We want transfers from Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ohio state sh!t like that....speaking of Ohio State what happened to that one 5 star recruit from Iowa that went to the Buckeyes? We need some legit talent to turn this ship around.

Fills a need. Not every commit going to be all Big 12.

PS we went 0-18 last year. :(

Going 0-18 is exactly why the team needs difference makers. Neither of the signees so far are difference makers. I think Hunter will be and if Bolton stays, he could be as well with Hunter taking one the PG duties. We can only go by the information available at this point and based on that, there is not a significant upgrade.

And Floyd brought in Cato, Pratt, Bankhead, and Willoughby first year after Orr.

We demand nothing less!
It has been done when transfers were much fewer and further between. Can't say that TJ has to hit a bunch of home runs this spring because that isn't fair, you will sometimes miss on recruits. But it absolutely is possible to bring in talent and turn things around quickly.

I hated Prohm and I never questioned who he brought in until they played the game for us. The Freddy years should have taught us that. Fresh starts, different systems, team chemistry etc.. are intangibles that can't be measured by stats. Until they play for us we don't know what they will bring.

someone had to eat human feces once because Cam Lard played for us.

Speaking of, that's another big that had a solid freshman campaign then fell off hard under the last staff.
