Jayden Nunn Decommits

Ok... CyTwins implied the assistant coach reached out! Brandon stated nobody reached out.
You two take 5 paces, turnaround and begin the shooters.
Last man standing was on top of it

He quite literally did if a school had offered him a scholarship offer decided to no longer offer it! I have no issue with pulling it. I have an issue if it wasn't done in a respectful manner, though.

Where has it be said we were no longer offering him a scholarship? He decommitted before they even had the chance to pull it. Maybe they would of eventually but we will never know now.

I thought we had all decided that D Rob had pulled the scholarship b/c Nunn said he didn't talk to the head coach?

I'm not sure anyone agreed upon what actually happened (perhaps because they don't know). And yet you are pronouncing what did happen and how it was devoid of needed diplomacy. Clearly the player is not happy with the situation, which is some evidence that whatever happened could have been handled better. How is it that you are pronouncing judgment if you don't know what happened?

It happened again.gif

I’ll never understand this behavior of being critical of a person and attacking them based off of little to no information of the whole story ....or in this case a single tweet from one side of the coin. People read one thing these days and it’s automatically 100% bent to the preconceived negative bias in their heads. If you want to look for what’s wrong you’ll always find it no matter what the situation ....same can be said if you want to look for what’s right instead. Just pump the brakes a little bit people.

I interpret Nunn's tweet like the situation when a well known coaches name has been associated with a head coaching search, but before a different new coach is named, they release a statement saying they are happy where they are and withdraw their name from consideration.

With Nunn this may be similar spin. What's a more favorable message for Nunn to get out?
  1. Iowa State's new coaching staff pulled my scholarship. A 2-22 program pulled my freaking scholarship offer! P5 Guys I'm out Here. or
  2. I was 110% committed and really excited to become a Cyclone. But due to the fact that I have not been contacted from the new Head Coach at Iowa State, I will be de-committing and re-opening my recruitment.
It wasn't necessary for TJ to call Nunn. That is just silly. He is 72 hours into a new job where he is calling recruits he wants, calling prospective assistant coaching candidates, speaking with ISU's existing roster, probably talking to the media, maybe speaking to some big donors, getting his family situated, etc.

I think an assistant coach with 20+ years experience is 1000% appropriate to call a recruit and let him know his scholarship offer was being pulled. BTW that Assistant Coach isn't some low level $50k year employee, Robinson banks $285,000 a year!

He's the ******* coach for our team and personally reaching out to other young men. 5 minute phone call to be a "great guy" to a young man and let him know that his commitment to the previous staff would no longer be accepted. He took the ******* copout and maybe had a lower staffer make the call. Again, killed that "great guy" narrative we usually hear about year 4 right out the gate.

Why are you people so dramatic.

Maybe Nunn was 110% committed to Iowa State and blocked TJ’s number since he was recruiting his teammate. Tj tried calling but Nunn didn’t get the call?

Or maybe Nunn was just another name on Prohms list of misses and TJ can evaluate players better who aren’t on the McDonalds list?

You guys act like TJ walked into a prefect situation, with 10 4 stars on the roster. The first thing he needs to do is evaluate what he has on the team. Maybe Nunn is mad because TJ reached out to the 4 star recruit and not him. Everything right now is very fluid. Most likely TJ was looking at the rest of the recruits and the current players and trying to figure out what to do. Let's face it, the Cyclone MBB team is a freaking train wreck right now, and the choices TJ makes in the next 30 are going to determine how long it stays that way.

I'm sure that Robinson could provide some insight on Nunn, but if you are TJ are you going to just go with what he says without looking at what Nunn can do? After all, part of the reason ISU went 2 and whatever is that there are some guys on the current roster that are not good enough.

Actually Nunn's tweet said he decomitted because he hadn't heard from the HC. Technically Nunn dumped us.

He was committed, not signed. Prohms offers don’t stand when he isn’t the coach. If he was 110% committed, well he should have signed on signing day. But he didn’t, because he was clearly holding out for another offer that didn’t come.
