No, it’s that he’s short and slow. That is not something that can be part of a plus player in the Big 12.
He’s not slow man. Not sure where you get that Bowen is slow but he is not. He’s actually very quick. Seriously quit trying to make up reasons that are not true. It’s dumb

He is fast and very athletic. He proved it being freshman of the year. He biggest problem wasn’t athletic ability being slow. It’s that he’s a 5’10 inch white guy from small town Iowa. The description you guys are giving is terrible. At least describe the kid right.

Bowen, is that you?

But seriously, if he was good enough to play at a high major he would be at one right now. I had just as many offers to play at high major schools as he did.

Also, he is listed at 5’11”. If you are going to get all weird about people’s descriptions of him, you might want to try getting it right yourself.

If all the pieces fall right this could be a tournament team next year. With a coaching change there of course will be some departures though I would think.

Guess I need to go back to the big 12 "who they losing, who's returning" thread. Who is getting worse? Who is an 0-19 team passing? TCU? KSU? Maybe?

This is not a 1-year rebuild.

I do think ISU could have an NCAA Tournament team next season if all the pieces come together. As much as players, that will come down to if TJ is able to create a new ISU basketball culture based on toughness and effort. If we can defend, rebound and get to the line- we could make huge strides.

The perfect scenario is heavily contingent on ISU having a quality PG. Hunter looks the parts based on his HS highlights, but the Big 12 is a different level. I like the following lineup:

Hunter
Bolton
Hinson
Foster or Tfr/Recruit
Conditt or Foster

Then off the bench Walker at PG, Harris/Jackson at WG, Johnson at SF, Dubar at PF

The tough thing is Harris & Jackson are very similar players. Shorter guards, who don't seem to have the best handle, mainly spot up jump shooters with questionable shot selection at times. IMO there is just room for 1 on our roster.

I struggle to see where Dubar and Blackwell fit. I realize they were only freshman and maybe Covid stunted their development- but for 6'6" players, I just didn't see shooters. I liked Dubar's rebounding and Blackwell made some good passes- but just didn't see enough.

I think the ideal additions to our roster would be:

Hunter
Nunn
Tfr/Recruit Post (Think Rebound Machine & Solid Back-to-Basket Game
Tfr 3 point shooter

that is not even close to an accurate description of Borne. Short yes, dude has massive explosion and can dunk. Also has speed. I get if you don’t want him but the only thing you got right is that he is short
I agree with you. He appears very athletic and quick too.

In my amateur opinion. The guards you need to keep or should try hardest to keep:

Hunter (recruit)
Bolton, Walker and JCL.

Stretch players:
Foster, Hinson and Johnson only if he is coming off the bench

Post:
Conditt

Keeping Johnson, Harris and Jackson only if you don't think the transfer/freshman route will yield starters down the road.

It will be very interesting to see what TJ's evaluation of Dubar and Blackwell yields.

Pretty optimistic, but I could see it if things fall in place, but a lot of things have to fall right, and that is just not very likely. Need to hold on to everyone that is a Big 12 player, let a couple guys go, and get a couple major wins in the transfer market. Hopefully we will have a team that is hungry to win, values the ball and will fight for rebounds for a change.

We will have a much better idea what TJ has to work with in about a month.
