We used to have a sliding back door that it and most of it's surround structure was made of wood except for the track which was metal (assuming an aluminum alloy). Worked great most of the year until it got really cold like this and then the coefficient of thermal expansion (and contraction) took over and the door wouldn't open without either a lot of force or some help from a hair dryer. Last spring we said that's enough and replaced it and we couldn't be happier with that decision now.
