Obviously Drake is having a great season and Devries appears to be a good coach. But hasn't there been endless posts on here about McDermott and Prohm coming from a smaller conference and that they weren't ready to succeed in the Big 12 much less Iowa State? So now everyone thinks JP should jump on the bandwagon of hiring him? What am I missing with everyone's thinking? Is the eye test enough, etc?
So, there is no way he is willing to hang out for 5 years at Drake waiting for the job? Jacobson is making 450k last I knew and he had times when he could have made more but stayed.
Almost every single Power 5 basketball coach came from a smaller conference. We’re not going to steal a coach away from another big program.
Fran was in a similar situation also, only took him 11 years to get a good team.
ISU is almost certainly getting a power 5 assistant or a g5 coach. If you look at history of college basketball both have mixed results. The fact is Prohm has proven that he can't hack it. Maybe Devries flames out as well but you won't know until you try. He has good results at a school that has historically been hard to win at as well as strong Iowa/Midwestern ties. All these facts work in his favor.
