Was this your best Cyclone sports memory? Curious what others top 5 are.
Mine (football wise)
1) Oklahoma State upset
2) Fiesta bowl championship!!
3) ISU hosting gameday (I forget the result :) )
4) Beating Texas to cement B12 reg season share
5) Insight.com bowl

Note: If this was basketball too, would include the final B8 champ and our first B12 trny champ... and a runner up is our womens bball upset over texas tech in 2000, or beating Uconn in s16.

none of the above. For something I attended it would be Basketball beating OSU when the hoop was shaking from the noise and they missed two free throws at the end of the game. Second was this...https://cyclones.com/news/2008/3/19/1414094.aspx

1992 upset of #2Okie State at Hilton. Justus Thigpen got hot in the second half after being benched for the first half. I think it’s the game that Fred said it was so loud at the end he could feel the floor moving. It was incredibly loud even in the cheap seats.

Fiesta Bowl should be #1, but it’s difficult to move it to #1 because I wasn’t able to be there in person like all the other memories.

Also, a LOT of basketball memories on the list.

2000 basketball dismantling UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen (and overall watching that team the last month of the season...that hasn't been done since).

2011 OSU game--I went bonkers. Probably the craziest I've gone over an ISU game.

2017 at OU-really start of setting the standard.

2020-That drive to put ISU ahead in Austin doesn't get enough credit.

-While today's game wasn't the thriller or full of fireworks, ISU just won a ****ing Fiesta Bowl in dominant fashion.

It's the best thing I've seen Iowa State football do, and it's not close.

As great as this win was, I'm not sure it makes my top 5 because of the lack of drama. We controlled the game from the start and it really never felt like we were gonna lose. Maybe I'm just not used to that feeling as an ISU fan? Top 5 moments, off the top of my head:

1) 2012 OSU game - I was there, and in hindsight it didn't really propel the program forward the way we thought it might, but god damn that was fun.
2) 2000 MBB season - I was still young, but old enough to remember. Was at the UT game with the Fizer dunk over Chris Mihm. Goosebumps thinking about it.
3) 2014 Big 12 Tourney Championship/NCAA run - Ejim, Kane, Georges. Hardly a Baylor fan in sight. One of the best ISU bball teams ever. That game winning layup by Kane to beat UNC in the Round of 32 will never get old. Just forget about the whole Niang broken foot thing...
4) 2020 football win over Texas in Austin - This win was so important for so many reasons. I'm not sure I've ever felt so much stress, joy and relief in a short amount of time than during/after this game. The fan reactions afterwards said it all.
5) College Gamday in Ames - Forget the game result. To be there in person and see the Gameday set and festivities actually in Ames was so damn cool. Hopefully we will get them again next year under better circumstances.
