***Official College Football Playoff Rankings***

Yeah not big on the whole 16 or more. Sorry I don’t find that appealing and that’s just my opinion. I know others obviously feel different.

I am a 6 or 8-team playoff guy and cap it there. I guess you maybe (and it’s a big maybe) could get me to get on board with a 12-team playoff like the NFL has traditionally done so the top four would get a bye and a home game. 6 or 8 can get you every P5 champ in, and yes they should be in because they won on the field and now can prove without a shadow of a doubt they were good enough to win it all or not. But they will prove it ON THE FIELD. There just isn’t enough quality non-con games every year to truly differentiate which conferences could be better than others.

Which is exactly why we should have EVERY conference get into the playoffs. Let everyone prove it on the field.

I think you'd actually like a 16 team playoff but you just don't like the big scary number

Haha seems a bit dramatic. Zero reason to have all conference champs or 16 teams in a playoff.

Zero reason to have conferences then. Zero reason to have the G5 then. Zero reason for anyone to play Iowa State then. That line of thinking is how we end up with 10 teams splitting off and doing their own thing.

Dramatic? Why do we subject ourselves to anything like the "eye test" when EVERY OTHER SPORT AT EVERY LEVEL IN THE ENTIRE WORLD does it pretty much the same way with a form of automatic qualification and then a playoff to determine a champion.

I would be fine with a 6 - 8 team playoff .. my biggest gripe with CFP is that it's subjective .. utilize a set combination to determine a teams score, whether that includes wins, losses, SOS, etc.. im tired of this "eye test" it makes no sense.. it would also encourage teams to not schedule cupcakes for non-con.

Come up with a valid reason besides "seems like too many" then. @Busch__Latte 's is the only semi-valid one that is easily fixed with a player allowing them to get money off their likeness. But in my system we're still only putting 2 teams at 15 games. In fact most of the country would play one or two less games than they do now. 10 + a bowl.

I didn't say it seems like too many. It is too many. There aren't 16 team worthy of playing for the national title.

Map out the playoff using this year's team. Let's see what it looks like.

Nope I am not for adding that many more games for these kids playing in the later rounds. You would have to absolutely trim the regular season number of games. I hear you as there have been a few years the best G5 should have had a chance but I’m not excited at all about 16 teams as some of those games would just be horrendously bad and I wouldn’t tune in.

The other divisions of college football there is a lot more parity aside from a couple of teams (I.e. NDSU in FCS or Mount Union). But you have many other schools after that to make deep runs. The parity at the highest level isn’t there at all. There is a massive gap even within the P5 let alone the G5. Sorry just don’t see the appeal in a 16-team playoff.

Bingo! The computers for the BCS should have stayed because then the undefeated Cincinnati’s of the world WOULD get their chance if it was a 6 or 8-team. Remember that was a system that had Boise one messily win against a Kaepernick led Nevada team from playing for the title. It also had Missouri and Kansas at the top of the rankings and would have made it if they had won out. It’s the committee and human element tainting this thing.

Yes so the vast majority of these programs would lose games and a ton of money. That isn’t going to happen. And we have one less home game for us fans every year (unless we are consistently in the playoff)? No thank you to that.

Less games is a non starter first off. If you aren’t cutting games then your adding to many.

8 is the perfect number for now. 5 champions, plus G5, and two at large bids.

Everyone knows what they have to do. G5 has to go undefeated and you can use the at large if there are multiple. Independents need to join a conference.

12 more playoff games would bring in an extra $1billion per year at least. Split between 10 conferences. I am assuming there would be a payout divide based on how far you get. So you're talking an extra $10-20million per school in the P5 and probably an extra 2-3million per school for the smaller conferences.
