Had ISU had the same "luck" as OSU in terms of their season and scheduling, they could very well be in the same spot as them, undefeated, with impressive showings over good teams. They're 8-2. What if they would have axed the non-con and OSU gets cancelled? ****, they could be undefeated.

I'm not going to argue that OSU isn't a great team. I think they're really good. I think they're better than ISU. The problem with the whole playoff system right now is that we have no idea if they're trying to find the best resume, best team, or what. It seems to arbitrarily change from week to week.

Just a hypothetical, but what if OSU had 2-3 other games cancelled but did beat Indiana. Are they in at 2-0 or 3-0? According to B1G today, the answer is yes.

According to the committee years past nobody knows if Indiana is any good.

The entire Big Ten and Pac 12 need to either be excluded from the playoff this year, or the committee needs to issue a statement that they were completely wrong with their criteria the previous few years and that in the future they only need to analyze 5-6 games from each team to know who the best four teams are.

Agreed. OSU has no place in the top 10 by resume, and Indiana is highly overrated at 12 when they havent beaten anyone with a winning record.

Covid just exposed how they were lying mob bosses when they lied about 12 data points. TCU (or similar brand) needs 13 data points, Ohio State (or similar brand) only needs 6. Ohio State might only need 1 game if they really tested the committee's true desires.

It's weird that this reality exists at the same time that they have ISU ranked as high as you could possibly justify them being ranked. Remember that TCU was #3 with a better schedule strength than Ohio State right before they dropped them three spots. This #7 spot is safely outside the top 4, and if we were in the top 4 I'd still expect to get dicked over just like TCU did.

We know the committee would not let TCU in with 12 games, a razor thin loss away from unbeaten, and a tougher schedule than a team they put in with the same record.

We know they would let Ohio State in with 5 or 6 games.

There's a very good chance they'd let Ohio State in with 1 or 2.

While I can see Indiana being mad, they did lose to Ohio State, so I'm not to worried about that. However, If I'm Northwestern, I'm not to happy.

All this shows is how ******* dumb the Big 10 has been through this whole process. Kevin Warren is a disaster.

If your name is not Oklahoma and you are in the Big 12, you need to be unbeaten to make it to the playoffs.

How flexible are the rules?

I'd actually love it if Iowa lost to NW, placed second in their division, then beat Ohio State for the "championship".

The revenue from actually getting a team in the CFP is minimal compared to the huge base amount that every conference gets no matter what. For the B1G, it would work out to less than $500K per team in the league.

That would be like the big 12 giving OUs spot to OSU because OU already lost head to head. Indiana met the requirements laid out at the beginning of the season. OSU did not. The conference is straight up snatching that game away from Indiana.

And if OSU hadn't skipped out on its game vs illinois, a game it acknowledged it could have played based on the existing thresholds, it would not have needed the big 10 to change its rules on qualifying for the big 10 championship. Ohio State put itself into this situation.

Theyre used to doing that because the big 10 is almost always criminally overrated early, especially this year.
