You could play him with Foster and you'd still have four 3-point threats on the court. Payton with Conditt might be an issue.

If Payton is a elite player, it is up to the coaching staff to run half court sets that work with only 2 or 3 quality 3 pt shooters.

Also I wouldn't automatically equate a Conditt/Payton pairing to Conditt or Young/Jacobson pairing from last season. If Payton is a solid ball handler and slasher that gives an offensive dynamic that Jacobson didn't have.

I couldn't find much on this kid.. He has a verbal commits page but isn't even on 247. He's a 6'4" 195 lb PG from Flint, Michigan. He transferred his senior year to a prep school in Glendale, Arizona and his biggest offers are from Rhode Island, Austin Peay, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.

And his dad played high school basketball with Jeff Grayer.

I love that guy's highlights. He's 6'6" but plays like he's 6'10" and his post moves were terrific (even though he was posting up mostly guys his size or below). These types of JUCO guys are the ones I like. He reminds me of Hogue outside of Dustin's shooting ability.

Hogue became more of a 3 point threat his senior year compared to his first year at ISU.

Dennis Rodman pops his head up . . . . "You rang"

Rodman made a career out of being an outstanding rebounder and an elite defender that could guard multiple positions. I can still remember him with the Pistons guarding James Worthy from the Lakers and he was the first person who could stay with Worthy step for step on his spin move. You don't have to be good at everything, but you do have to be elite at at least one thing. Corver is an example of making a career out of being a great shooter, but I don't think he has ever been confused as an elite defender, rebounder or slasher off the dribble guy. On the other hand, Danny Ferry was a fairly well rounded college player that wasn't really elite at anything so didn't find much of an NBA career. The true superstars are the ones that are elite at multiple things (ex Kawli, Giannis, Lebron, The Brow, Kobi, Michael) and end up on NBA scoring lists as well as all defensive teams.

As Charles Barkley said, Rodman went from a $2-3 mil a season guy to a $10 mill (almost) a season guy when he became elite at his marketing as one of the most eccentric players. Charles stated Madonna changed the direction of Rodman's economic power. He was always a guy other teams loved to hate, but early on with the Pistons he was overshadowed by other players they may have hated more (ex. Laimbeer).

It was moreso McKay’s entrance as a starter the following season and the need by Fred to spread the offense around him, including Hogue.

McKay wasn't eligible until 1/3rd the way through the season and wasn't a starter until 2/3rds.

Hogue came into the year with more of a score-first mentality -- for good or ill.

We had plenty of scorers. We could have used more defense and rebounding that season.

If Foster proves to be a good 3 point shooter at this level. You could theoretically run Payton at the 5 and Foster at the 4 and stretch him out. Because there may be match-up problems for the other team having to put a big on Payton and a smaller player having to come out and guard Foster.
