Death, taxes and outstanding Oklahoma offense.

Many things change in college football from year to year, but the Sooners producing one of the nation’s best offenses is one thing that seems resistant to change. That can be largely attributed to head coach Lincoln Riley, who has solidified himself as one of the game’s best offensive minds.

Here are five things to know about the 2020 Oklahoma offense ahead of Saturday’s 6:30 p.m. kick at Jack Trice Stadium.

1 – Another Phenom

Sure, Oklahoma’s fourth starting quarterback in the last four seasons looked shaky in the second half of last Saturday’s 38-35 loss to Kansas State, but don’t get it twisted. Spencer Rattler has all the talent in the world to be the next big...

Lincoln Riley says he can't wait for Saturday. he is looking for his team to create lots of turnovers. really going to go after Brock Purdy and try to make him make poor decisions. This team will be focused and will want to make a statement on National TV. We will need to play our A game in order to beat them.

Quote: “We had a bunch of big penalties on big plays,” Riley said after the game. “Gonna have to go look at it. Kinda like the whole team, there were some positives, there were some negatives and they’re going to have to get better just like everybody else.”

They can get better after Saturday. ;)

The little bit of the game I saw last week showed that their QB loved to roll right. He threw a cannon while on the move with ease but did overshoot/miss a couple times. I think we need that rush to block the right side roll out.

Seems like OU always likes to play on the edge of the rules. They aren't afraid of getting penalties.

Our secondary really concerns me this week, OU is going to come out firing so I hope we can force Rattler into mistakes. I’d feel a lot better with a sell out crowd there instead of 15k but obviously that’s not possible

Just like with any QB, need to get Rattler on the run and force him into making quick decisions. I would take 3 ints again.

The comment about the OU offensive line penalties, specifically that most of them were holding, is a great advantage for us. Given how good our defensive line has looked in the first two games getting in to the backfield, the OU offensive line is going to be more inclined hold our defensive line and hopefully drawing penalties.

From that it sounds like the same old OU. They're going to sell out for stops and give up the big play when they don't, and bet that their offense will be better than ours. Winner will be whichever defense imposes their will more on the other (assuming no more special teams shenanigans).

That and we need to start well, punch them in the mouth early and don't dig a hole for the second half. The longer this game stays close, the more pressure OU will come under.

Can someone talk me up here? I love our matchup on the lines, but our secondary really scares me into thinking we are going to get torched for like 400 passing yards...

I'll try. K-State was a hot mess in the defensive backfield. Klieman started two freshmen at corner. He moved his best corner to nickel and his nickel to safety. OU lost.

Why? Because the defensive line pressed Rattler all day and particularly the second half. He rattled. Then choked. Threw interceptions. Was like 1-11 down the stretch.

So, ISU has a very good front line that will pressure Rattle. His protection is pretty weak at both tackle spots.

If they do that, they'll protect the backside and be in a position to win. If they don't, you're correct, they'll get smoked.

The key is putting pressure on the QB. Purdy and Hall will score enough on OU's leaky defensive unit.

Sure. But the refs have to call them -- which they never seem to do when its ISU.
