Even year so most of the contests are, or were to be, in Iowa City but wondering if the whole thing ends up being a "bye". The Cy-Hawk football game is already cancelled and the other contests are up in the air. Cross country, men's and women's, was scored on NCAA placing and no championships this fall season so nothing to score there. Iowa is dropping women's swimming so that is out after this season.

I think they'll pretend this year happened and keep the schedules the same going forward (which may be the same thing you were saying; I'm not sure). Because both teams have set their nonconference schedules based on this case, so it doesn't make sense to switch all of those games.

Plus, it's fair. Iowa State played at Iowa City something like four straight years when the series restarted. Iowa can play in Ames for two straight years now.

Iowa’s AD budget is about $40 MM more than ours. What the heck are they doing with that if they will only have 2 more sports than us? That is one of the most wasteful departments I’ve ever seen.

I thought I heard on a podcast the schedules (currently in the contract) will not be changed from playing or not this year. If anything, another year will be added on any new contracts which will be played in IC. So, we will get Iowa in Ames next season as normal (for football and likely basketball).

Total speculation here, but It seems like a possibility that Iowa doesn't visit Ames in football next fall because the Big Ten plays a shortened schedule thanks to its spring season.

Yeah, if they get a spring season in, then there's no way that the game in Ames happens next year.

I would say the game IS played in Ames no matter what. Schedules are put together many years in advance. We have next years scheduled already under contract. Iowa would be the one breaking the contract. It would potentially mean that we would only have five home games. Basically it is just a lost year and the next one takes it's place.

Aside from the contract doesn't the Cy-Hawk football game have a pretty big economic impact? All sorts of money has to pour in from Iowans at local establishments during that weekend and with the fallout from this fall, you'd think they'd make it happen if it's possible.

If they start the season in October and play conference only (most spring plans like Brohms), there is no way cyhawk happens. Pollard will find someone else to play.

Considering they're going to play zero games this season I bet this isn't true. They won't play this Spring

i thought when the game got cancelled this year that it wont happen again in the foressable future, if the game doesnt happen next year, its done for a long time i bet.

If everything else is back to relative normal by next year's football season, things will be played as previously scheduled.

You have to remember that that game is balanced against the conference schedules for both teams, to guarantee a certain number of home games a year (we always play @ iowa in the years we have 5 big 12 home games, and i think its the same situation for Iowa). Neither side is going to want to shake that up, so this year will just be treated as a wash.

The most under-achieving athletic department in the nation.
Texas underachieving considering their budget. I would think fans and administrators would expect more football and basketball success than they've been getting.
